Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo plans to make 25 million to 30 million Switch game consoles next fiscal year

Combination of China, surprises from 3rd parties, pokemon, animal crossing and as many have said on here, a new Switch/Wii Sports/combination? I think Switch/Wii Sports could be pretty big again, there could be some good possibilities with it on tabletop mode. Pretty sure Wii sports wasn't just for" casuals" anyway. It was and would be for practically everyone. It certainly wouldn't alienate the current userbase and i'm pretty sure it would bring in new gamers/lapsed gamers. If marketed properly i feel it could bring back what some have coined the "Wii crowd".

ANDY MURRAY:- GRAND SLAM WINNER!

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

Animal Crossing (10m seller) next year with Pokemon (10m seller) the following year.

Making 25-30 million consoles in a fiscal year isn't the same as selling them in that time frame.

Still, that's a LOT!
Not even the Wii sold that much, i believe.
They better have a price cut, Pokémon and some other big games/thingy in the pipeline to sell a good portion of those 25-30 million consoles. Or more, seeing as they could even increase it.

Pokemon won't come out next year. And this statement isn't  coming from Nintendo. I believe WSJ (or a similar outlet) said Nintendo would ship 18-20 million Switch this fiscal year. They were right on the increased shipments, but it's still below the roumored number (might reach 18 m if Nintendo is ready for it).

My point is... wait for next year's forecast before calling anyone crazy.

To be fair Nintendo said they are aiming holiday 2018. with Pokemon, but even if game cant be done for holiday 2018. it could be done for March 2019. that part of FY 2018.

They must be extremely confident in games that have yet to be announced for fiscal 2018. They are setting themselves up for disappointment otherwise imo.

You don't make that many systems even for being shipped unless you plan to sell near that amount over the next fiscal year as they waste resources otherwise. I can see around 20-25m max but that 30m is reaching. I'll wait to see if those numbers end up being official plan by Nintendo during their next fiscal outlook from them.

If a new Smash, Pikmin, Animal Crossing and a game like Pokemon and/or Metroid make it in. Along with popular third party titles like GTAV. That’s the only way they can remotely hit that number.

Nintendo’s Mr. Kimishima said the company would release more games for casual users next year.

This worries me.

Switch has sold as well as it has because it appeals to core gamers; trying to recapture the Wii crowd by focusing on gimmicky software aimed at non-gamers would be a huge mistake.

Thats interesting out of all my friends 2 of them got the switch and they are the most causal non gamers ever. they used to have the wii. I went out to pho with one of them last week and he said he never touched it in almost 2 months or more.

SO i think alot of the switch sales are wii owners upgrading.  He and the other friend never got a wii U btw. if that matters?

They reported that Nintendo would manufacture 18-20 million, not ship and if i recall Nintendo said they would be able to manufacture several million more than they plan to ship.

It makes perfect sense that Switch can peak higher than the PS4. Still, 25-30m is a lofty target.

Shipping 20m in its second full fiscal year is definitely realistic, but above that will depend on what Nintendo has in the pipeline and when those games release. Third party support is on the right track with increased commitment, so sales of third party games themselves and their effect on hardware sales should be similar to what we've seen on the more recent Nintendo handhelds (DS and 3DS).

Ill make a bold thread claiming. Switch will ship 30mil next fy. So it should be a 50/50 chance since usually im half right :p
