Forums - Gaming - Violence Porn? TLoU2

I think people don't know what violence looks like because it is often censored or toned down in media. Some call it "torture porn" I'd call it a realistic depiction of what happens when the human body is maimed.

Nothing I saw in the trailer I didn't see or experience in the first game, many other games, or in countless other media. It's for adults and we have ratings to warn people. This feels like such a tempest in a teacup to me.

Cringey, going for cheap attention, but not offensive.

I can't stand TLOU and don't get the whining over the trailer. People never say anything over CoD trailers when a dude pumps 40 rounds in another guy face. How about when the Dead Island had that CGI trailer of the kid dying. No one whined then. Anyone who gets offended at violence in video games, just should not play games at all. It's not "violence porn" FFS what a stupid term. No one is masturbating to it and cumming on their screen because a hammer hit a woman's arm. Just some of us are not feeble-minded and run away at some blood.

That kind of violence wasn't senseless. it was to set up a scene and characters and it's a part of world-building in the world they live in, much like Walking Dead, some people just suck esp when there is no society which has proven to be true in reality when major disasters strike. Many people were raped in the Superdome during Katrina. People loot. Some people helped others and some hurt others. TLOU trailer was showing one side to set up world you as a player have to survive in. I will say once more I didn't like TLOU, in fact, don't like Naughty Dog much at all so I am not standing up for a game I like but what the trailer was selling and the hypocrisy of people being selective what they are offended by.

Never say no one lol

All kinds of weirdos out there

I think Mike is into that kind of thing.

Well, TLOU world is violent as hell, so I don't know what they were expecting XD.

I can't stress enough how much I hate watching those panel video type things where they sit and talk about a game or an issue in a game and all suddenly start feeling all philosophical and morally grounded and shit. Funny enough one such video from GI prompted me to make this thread.

and you seem offended that others are offended, doesn't that make you a pussy² ?

Nah, I'm a bear! We eat pussies for breakfast!

Also, if anyone has a gif of a bear eating a pussy I'd love that. I'd really like to post it on a certain users wall...

Violent, yes, but porn? what the fuck sort of projection is that?

As for the trailer, it was chock full of subtle hints and details for the next game, the article that ran with this violent porn bullshit didn't catch a single one.

The first game had homicidal cannibals in it so the trailer of the sequel makes sense. It's a game series made for adults. What do they expect to see it compared to other mature games?

So, violence is fine so long as it is bloodless or fantaztically over the top, but sobering realistic violence is not okay? Sure, fine, good thing we have pearl-clutching moral authorities who know where to draw the line for us. Think of the children, think that's the excuse.
