So, I think I'm near the end of Chapter 10 as I've already talked to the Architect and he told his story and all and am about to fight the evil sibling, so I'll be doing sidequests for now.

I replayed the original twice. I find it is very difficult to keep playing once you hit Eryth Sea, the game really slows down until the Fallen Hand. So I find I almost want to take a break here. Then the last thrust to the end is really trying. XCX is kind of like Breath of the Wild in that I found I could lose myself for dozens of hours - although, in that time, build up my knowledge about what's going on, the people, and background (more so than Breath of the Wild even). Like Breath of the Wild, it can take a very long time to get around to finishing. XC2's worst paced part is definitely the slow tutorial portion at the beginning; at least until a point in chapter 3. It's, unfortunately, far along in chapter 3 that you realize just how awesome it all comes together. |
I tried twice beating it..but like you said after the Eryth Sea I wasn't compelled to keep going on(maybe I will revist it after XB2) for XCX I doubt I will ever beat that game like you said I spent over 100 hrs but didn't beat it
In the middle of Chapter 5 now. This game feels like the perfect balance of Xenogears and Xenoblade story-wise. Good pacing + complex world-building + fully rounded characters that are more than their archetype.
Critical healing from Mythra + Nia on Rex = best thing ever. Basically no need from healers and not so much relying from tanks, plus you can make of 5th as your main attacker, and if he also happens to have Zenobia, Goddamn... Also, not bothering with Tora, Tiger! Tiger! just sucks ass even compared to X's farming, but man, he can get pretty insane:
Puts 4th to shame, but she's still pretty with her high evasion.
My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Good news is Tiger Tiger is getting an easy mode so that may help alleviate some issues for those who just want to quickly upgrade Poppi
Seems that I’m not getting some of the tutorials that other players are getting. Wtf is wrong with this game? Now I’m missing important combat information.

Well I don't know what I'm all missing combat wise yet, but there are a couple of things I wish to learn more about.
1. I see some skills about cancelling arts or something like that. What is that? I know that if you click an art at the right time just when a normal attack is hitting you get a blue circle that fills up your art guage more than normal as well as the art doing more damage. Same if you activate another art or special at the right moment when doing an art. Is this the cancelling that I hear? or is cancelling something else?
2. When fighting enemies with blades. Seems like I constantly hit like a brick wall with my attacks. It's annoying. The guy becomes like invincible and my attacks just bounce my sword off like I smacked a brick wall. is there some way around this? Should I be doing something else during this time? What causes this? Does this happen everytime they are doing an art with their blade?
Probably other things I'm not getting yet that I hope to, just starting with two things quick. But I like that. As much as I know about combat, and how good I feel l am at combat, it still feels like I can get a lot lot better. I mean heck, I have no trouble beating unique monsters 5 levels higher than me, yet I still feel like I'm missing something in combat that would make me better.

Blades which are Tank specialist have a high % blocking rate ... and that rate can increase when they are in a critical state of health. Look at their weapons first and then strategize in which order you wanna take them out. You should trash the healers first, if there's one, then go for the attackers next. Tanks should always be your last priority in a battle. 3. First, you shouldn't feel bad in the beginning if ennemies 5 lvl higher beat you,especially Unique Monsters since they have higher health,stats and unique skills. You'll own your skills enough so that you can beat them later in the game with a lower lvl. Just a reminder than even ennemies with lower level than you can still kick your ass later too ;) |

Actually the toughest fight I've had so far in the game was the mercenary battles to unlock lvl 3. Took many deaths, coming back when higher level, finally getting around to improving my gear, ect to finally beat that quest.
Next tough battle was probably the automated defense system you fight at end of Chapter 5. I beat it easy as pie first time, then when its second battle happened it just beat me like 5 times. I would get it to half health easy, and then it seemed to not take anymore damage and started doing attacks that would nearly OHKO my whole party at once. I noticed at that point when I did a combo, thinking that maybe I needed ot break its floating or, that I had two floating orbs. Do those orbs just completely beef up ones defense? But after dying during that fight I then paid more close attention and zoomed out to see orbs and as soon as 1 popped up I combo'ed. Barely beat him that time, but I think getting rid of the orbs or not letting 2 of them be there at same time really helped.
