Well i'm playing this game as a speedrunner,so i can't really talk for most people, but the variety of movements that you have in this game makes the skill roof really high.To me,it's the best mario since 64 in regards to reward player's skill.

I know I didnt gather everything but most people i know beat the game with less than half the moons that I got so far.  Kudos to you grinding for moons on your first play through.  Unfortunatly for me once my son says hes bored of a level its time for me to move on, but I still feel as though I am taking my time and I will eventually 100% as I do with all the Marios.

I get ya.  And just so we are clear, I am not bashing you for blowing straight through.  More ensuring you that there is still a ton of more challenging content to explore outside the main story.  Many moons are not even available until AFTER you beat Bowser.

That is why I am trying to gather as many as I can before going all the way, to help split up my time in each Kingdom better.

To me, it's actually a lot harder than BotW.

To anyone whose played both - how does SMO difficulty compare to Yooka Laylee (busted arcade minigames notwithstanding)?

The 75/100 review everyone got in an uproar about said the game was too easy for long-time Super Mario players.

finished the game yesterday and 75/100 seems a little bit harsh but i cant see how this should be "one of the best videogames ever created".

Its cool and fun and most likely one of the best jump n runs ever made, but compared to other great games like Witcher 3 or even zelda its really not that outstanding

The final 2D segment begs to differ! I no joke died 50 times before giving up out of fustration. The rest of the game was pretty easy up until that point sure, but still hella fun!

Hmm, maybe it's time for Nintendo to bite the bullet and introduce difficulty levels instead of hiding the good stuff behind the main story.

I always thought Nintendo had it right by not having difficulty levels but over the years I feel like the games have slowly moved to too easy overall, and the time investment to get to the hard stuff is getting longer and longer. I don't want to slog through 20 hours of boring easy stuff to play the interesting parts of the game. Especially if I'm ever going to replay!

The main game is easy and I believe they did this so people of all ages could progress through the game and enjoy it without having to be frustrated. If you want to see the real difficulty of the game and see all Odyssey has to offer you must play the post game. I've died a countless amount of times in the post game. Probably more than I have in any other Mario game. Get all 999 moons and come back and say it was easy.

Well from what I read, there's more to do in the game after you beat that fight with Bowser, but it's a secret.

I don't remember how long it took me to beat Mario 64 (Just Bowser, not the 120 stars), but I feel it must have been more than two weeks.

im not sure if its because I was younger but I feel as though it took me like 2 weeks to beat Mario 64.  I think part of that reason went to simply getting a clue to get a star and also not having easy acess to the NET at the time.

I really think a lot has to do with how you approach the game. Just wanna do the story, it's easy but f you really want to grind and get as much moons as you can it gets more challenging. I mean most Mario games are similar it's just that the moons here are much more in abundance and there's waaaaay more easy ones to find
