Hmm, maybe it's time for Nintendo to bite the bullet and introduce difficulty levels instead of hiding the good stuff behind the main story.
I always thought Nintendo had it right by not having difficulty levels but over the years I feel like the games have slowly moved to too easy overall, and the time investment to get to the hard stuff is getting longer and longer. I don't want to slog through 20 hours of boring easy stuff to play the interesting parts of the game. Especially if I'm ever going to replay!
