Nintendo is for kids...

27 here.

I doubt this is a survey. I’m pretty sure Nintendo just uses birthdays recorded on the consoles themselves, like every other company nowadays.

Anyways, is this typical for consoles at launch? The price hasn’t been cut, there haven’t been any Christmas trees to put them under yet, etc.

Back in the days, the WiiU eShop demographics

I don't think this is a good sign. It's even older than the Wii-U userbase and extremely male-skewed. It is a sign that not so many gamers who started after the early 90s are interested on the console (so far at least, we should wait at least one Christmas to be sure). I think that's something all companies should be concerned about, whether or not their userbases are being renewed.

It's important to mention that these figures are US only and that figures for japan indicate more of an uptick in the female as well as the younger demographics by now.

They didn't really say anything about europe.

Damn did yall forget that most kids lie and put their age to 18 to bypass any barriers? Im 15 and my friends and move the ages up just in case there’s any barriers

Nintendo actually talked about that in last brefeing how in next year they have want to increase interesting for Switch espacily for kids and females.

27% are 16-24, 43% are 25-34... those are fairly ideal numbers, though they'd probably like to see a little more interest from the very-youngs.

One thing to keep in mind about these numbers for almost all products and such, though, is that it is often the parent's age that winds up in the survey, which could explain why those prime baby-raising years of 25-34 seem unusually high by any standards.

There's no doubt that demographic is quite interested, but I'd wager a lot of them are parents with children who use the console (which also explains why the younger demographics are often misleadingly low in surveys).

The only thing I find very weird is the 86% to 11% (3% N/A) male-to-female ratio... It just seems like Nintendo has a lot of titles that should appeal to women, and that's a bizarrely bad disparity between the two.
