Would make low sense to call it Part II and in fact be Part 0.

I don't quite follow. First game Past/Future, second game further in the past/further in the future. It makes perfect sense to me.

It doesn't really make sense, but that could be the way it is done

Understanding the mother would deepen our understanding of Ellie and seeing the early brutality would help us understand why Joel lost his humanity and hope.

One guy is making nothing but Sony threads to cover the front page...interesting.

Yes, and I will coninue to do it when there's significant Sony news to report.

Much appreciated.

This game looked amazingly mind blowing on that trailer. Here's hoping there's no downgrading on its graphics.

What we've seen is a cut scene so I see no problem there.

I don't think so. But it could happen. We already know how humanity is bestial on post-apocalypse world, so we know why Joel is reclusive...

A broadstroke reason isn't as engaging as a personal reason. We can easily see why war would incite a 'people' to take drastic measures in taking reverge, but it's taking one characters experience of that war that gives a film, book or game legitimacy. This is why lots of Hollywood films are crap. They just throw bombs and death at people, usually underpinned by a musical cue, in order to express a very generic understanding of emotions. Cage does this all the time and it's annoying.

I know it have a difference when it's personnal.

Just that we don't really need to see it. Joel lost his child and had very little reason to keep living or interacting, that is already a given after the beggining of the first game. Anything else will be just detailing.

I don't think much of the story will be centred around Joel's development, I'm just giving reasons why they may want to keep the format of the first game. Joel's journey is as complete a story as it can be. From Father to survivor to doing anything to survive, leading to a loss of faith and humanity. Then onto his battle with memory, forging a meaningful (and so challenging) relationship with a human being, ending with redemption.

Ellie's story is not even close to complete, so that is why this game will concentrate on her.
