Forums - Gaming - Twitch Introduces Lootboxes

Useless items for what I see as a useless service - don't watch people play games, play them yourself!

Changed the OP to say Twitch instead of Switch.

Yeah, for the time being. But eventually Nintendo will get on the micro-transactions/loot boxes scheme too, don't you think for a second they are any different from the rest of the crowd.

My point is (and particularly in regard to this video) that one of Nintendo's strong points was that they did not give in to these schemes to milk people's money as others have been doing so to me Nintendo is losing its edge by being just as bad as the others but without the advantages of the others.

everyone loves lootbox's right?

Next up : Netflix.... what movies can you watch tonight? try a lootbox.

This is one of the pradoxes that always boggles my mind: People seem to universally agree that loot boxes and micro transactions are a cancer for gamers and yet according to figures released by the industry, micro transactions and lootboxes rake in a shitload of money to the shady corporations that implement them (Ubisoft, EA, Activision I'm looking at you three in particular).

In other words people don't like them but can't stop buying into them. People use loot boxes and micro transactions like there is no tomorrow. Talk about a case of sheep willingly going to the slaughterhouse.

Some say that "whales" (that's what the morons who keep paying for those loot boxes and micro transactions are called) are a small minority but when I hear that these swindles earn Billions (not millions in case you think it's a typo, but BILLIONS) to those companies, I'm having a real hard time believing a small minority of people can spend so much money that they can bring in so much cash to those companies. The math does not seem to add up but yeah, I don't know.

Twitch has its own currency?? Way to make it easier to spend money by not making it feel like you're spending money..

How? This is for people that donate to streamers. Before if you donate you would get a thank you from the streamer now you donate and get some emotes. You're getting to support your favorite streamers and get emotes.

And that's why the subscribe button existed

What about those subscribers that still donate. Also these donations only cost $3.50 while subbing cost $5. A cheaper way to get emotes.
