Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Sonic Forces Switch ver. wll be 720p / 30fps on Docked and Undocked

I played it on Switch at EGX and it looked and ran fine. Played the PS4 version as well, no real difference In visuals as far as I could see. Its shaping up to be a good Sonic game.

Odyssey runs 720 fp 60fps on handheld and 900 fps/60 fps docked.

actual footage

trailer footage (probably worse than final footage)

What a load of bullshit.

Of course it's a load of bullshit. Maybe Nintendo knows their own hardware better than sega? Or maybe cause Mario Odyssey was being developed specifically for Nintendo hardware for years while sonic forces is a port of a PS4/xb1 game? Nah, it has to be a load of bullshit.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

If game is graphically exactly same in portable and docked mode, this is definatly lazy port.

30fps for sonic is just a very bad idea. They should downgrade the graphics more to reach 60fps.

Very good for a handheld

all ive read is same resolution. that doesnt mean its teh same graphically across both docked and undocked.

Thats why I wrote if its "graphically exactly same in portable and docked mode", we know it has same resolution and same frame rate, so if its graphical exlatly same in docked mode it lazy port because they could definitely use higher GPU power in docked mode for higher resolution or better visuals.

OOT was like... what... 15fps? Only forum people care about this stuff. The rest of the world only cares about how good the game is.

Plenty of games has low frame rates in first generations of 3D games back than, same for bad camera or controls.

Uhhhh. We still only get the visual information of 30 frames per second, though. The visual info being the info we react to and base our control response on.....
What a load of bull.

Many mice and keyboards on PC operate at a significantly higher rate than the games rendered output framerate... The result is... 30fps is still 30fps, which is okay for some games... But not okay for others, thus this isn't a "new" thing by any stretch of the imagination.

Still. I would reserve judgment untill giving it a go in person, if it's a stable framerate with low input lag and good frame times, then it might feel okay.

I said it before and I'll say it again, that's fine as long as it uses higher settings when docked.

Some post processing effects along with with AA can make a huge difference for on a TV.

That became very obvious to me when I got my X1 at launch. There is a lot more to the presentation than the resolution. Higher resolutions aren't much to boast about if its a riddled with jaggies.

Could be CPU issue and its safe to assume they're were building with PS4/X1 specs as the priority.

Sonic Generations was 30 fps, wasn't ideal but still very playable.

Genius marketing if you ask me. Now most people will get the Switch version just to see what the hell 60 fps controls are! XD
