While I do miss the heavier movements of the older Jaegers, I suppose it makes logical sense; even in the first film, Striker as the first of the Mark 5 Jaegers moved a lot more smoothly than the older models. So it makes sense that years later new Jaegers would build on this and further improve mobility.

Exactly. Though the charm of these hulking robots are gone, hopefully a lot of the action is choregraphed well. That all being said, I wonder how the story is going to go down. Obviously (the Gypsy Danger one included) probably are not nuclear powered anymore so it may still end up being a serious disadvantage against the kaiju that can basically do emp waves. I'm a tad worried about the human interactions as well, but at the very least I'm confident in Boyeager.

Yeah the human element does tend to be kinda weak in kaiju films. The first film was no Citizen Kane but at least had likeable and colourful characters played with gusto.

The robot-vs-monster action is ultimately what will make or break the film for me. Where the first film's action reminded more of the Japanese Godzilla/Gamera films of the 1990s, this one kinda feels more like 1970s Ultraman. Which is fine, as long as it's well executed.

The new Transformers trailer looks great, can't wait to watch it.
