An election entitles to a term in a seat of power, not to be immune to criticism. Respect has to be earned and, maybe you'll disagree, but being elected earns recognition (as the president) but not respect. For instance p, I recognise Theresa May and my PM, but I do not respect her -mainly as I feel she is blundering her way through Brexit, having sidestepped the referendum in an attempt to get the top job.
Others who have been 'elected' include Nicolas Maduro and Robert Mugabe. Should they be immune from criticism?
