I'm exhausted. I work 2pm-10pm two days a week, and then have to work 6am-2pm two other days a week. In order to get to work on time I have to rike a bike for 40 minutes. This means I have to get up at 4:40am two days a week, but can't go to sleep until 10:40pm when I get off work. Six hours of sleep is not enough. I've been getting in shape going to the gym, and making a lot of progress these past six months, but my gains are being killed by my work schedule. Every monday I have to struggle to get up at 7am because my body is thrown for such a loop by my wonky work schedule, that I just want to sleep in all day. If I don't get up at 7, I wind up sleeping half the day away. I have a portfolio to work on, and I need to keep my skills up to date. I have a game backlog that grows every month. I only work 4 days a week, but between my commute, portfolio work, and exercise I wind up putting in 56 hours a week.

I work tuesday through friday from 10-4 and wednesday from 10-6. I also have another job where I work 4:30 to midnight 5 days a week, and on weekends dont get home til about 2. I work about 70+ hours a week, go to the gym 5 times a week either after midnight or on my nights off.

You want the gains you gotta work for them.

Also I have 2+ coffees a day, eat whatever I want, like pizza, chinese food, and whey supplements. I am a power lifter. The gains are great. I'd say, in terms of your energy, 6 hours is rough, but think about sneaking in naps....and pre-workout definitely helps a LOT.

Don't worry so much about milks or gluten. It's really not that major of a factor. You need caffeine. You need something to boost you. You can't just assume that a good diet of slow carbs and proteins and staple foods is going to make you feel great.

Don't do any exercise for a week. Sounds like your body doesn't recover and you need to rest. I guarantee you'll feel stronger and get your gains back. Then maybe check your workout routine, you might be working out too much all the time. Your diet seems fine.

I wasn't suggesting gluten is bad for you. I'm suggesting it makes you tired. Same with milk. I guess gluten supposedly doesn't make everyone tired, but it does for me and there is a thing such as gluten intolerance. http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/gluten-make-tired-8804.html Or just google "gluten tired" and browse some of the results. I try to stay away from processed foods/drinks and grains largely fall under them for what it's worth. Could be a part of the equation you haven't considered but might start noticing if you look for a correlation and depending on how much of your diet has gluten in it. Also, if you want something protein rich, raw unprocessed nuts such as pumpkin seeds, almonds or walnuts are an absolutely stellar source for that in addition to being superfoods for a variety of other nutrients as well. Also gluten free (-:

Nuts suck as protein source, at least mine do. My almonds are 6g protein / 160 calories. I require 180g protein a day so 4800 calories, which is unfeasible of course.

My  ground turkey on the other hand is 22g protein / 160 calories. A much more manageable 1300 calories if I choose. Of course I mix it with a lot of other proteins foods, and the nuts are a good healthy snack. Just not for protein.

Edit: Actually here is an article that will explain it better than me. https://www.heathernicholds.com/nutrition/protein-in-nuts

Be better off eating Peas :).

Nuts are great for healthy fats.....so long as you factor fats into your diet. gotta be very low carb with nuts in your diet.

Interesting, I never looked into it that much. I just know that pumpkin seeds, walnuts, almonds are very nutrient dense and pack a decent amount of protein. There's other benefits to eating it aside from the protein. But ground turkey is a great call too. Don't really care for peas tbh d: I'm also not a weight lifter so that's not as important to me

Yeah, I was thinking this. Sacrifice some money for nights you need a little more sleep. Fuck taxis, but Uber and Lyft are pretty cheap.

Honestly though, the schedule doesn't sound that bad. I also suggest taking some melatonin if you have trouble sleeping early.

Yeah that is a good idea. It's kind of annoying having to blow close to $80 a month just to sleep though. But I think I might have to just bite the bullet and shell out the money. Edit: On second thought I'm just going to do this. Screw it. I can't keep on throwing my sleep schedule for a massive loop every week. Hours are wasted just trying to catch up on sleep.

Also this, yeah man, you gotta really ask yourself "how much is my time and sleep worth to me".

Of course :). I been eating 320 calories worth of almonds each day, but the 95% of my protein comes from dairy and ground turkey.

Everything is more complicated then it seems. I went for ground turkey for weight loss, which means I check calories all the time. But if I go over my limit due to almonds, it really is no big deal since they are so healthy.

OT: I might suggest cold showers to jumpstart your day :). They are surprisingly very healthy.

I feel you man. It sucks I know. But this is life believe me there's nothing better than being on this world at this moment, so it's good to find a way to enjoy everything you do.

It's hard but it isn't impossible to do, all i takes is a mind set. If you don't like what you're doing right now get a vision, dream about something. And then figure out a way to get what you want, doesn't have to be big or difficult, that would make everything else easier.

And as you're riding your bike enjoy the scenery, the atmosphere of the earth, the sky. We don't know how much longer one's gonna have that, nobody knows

Grass is always greener.

I wake up at 4am, leave home at 430am and begin with at 530am. I get off at 6pm. Basically, I leave at 430am and don't get home until 6pm.

This happens for two weeks and then it flips. I do there exact same routine except I work 530pm-6am.

I still try to go to the gym after work most days so I get home just in time to go to sleep, wake up and go back to work. I don't mind, though.

God, when I first read the title of the thread, I legitimately thought that this was going to be a suicide note, or something like that.

[joke]Oh but it is! No need to fill the grave with dirt. My current backlog will suffice.[/joke]
