Forums - Gaming - Does a games location increase its sales in that location?

I feel like it does depending on the city. I've bought and played games because they were set in Louisiana.

I think Resistance Fall of Man did well in the UK for that reason.

I remember lots of hype for that in the UK magazines.  Surely it boosted sales.

I wonder did Assassin’s Creed unity sell better in Paris.  Surely it did.

Surely Syndicate seen a boost in London. And the order 1886?

Well funnily enough I'm Indian myself, and the fact that this was set in india was a huge selling point to me. I wasn't interested in uncharted 4, but I am in this. I bought it even though I don't have a PS4 (played it with a friend's ps4, will try to get one for myself soon).

Interesting to hear.  Do you think a lot of Indians feel the same?  Not too often a top class AAA game is based in India.

Sleeping Dogs launch in Hong Kong was huge copies sold out everywhere they priced it up almost 50% cause the demand was really high did a really good couple of months.

Never knew that.  So location definitely helped!

The metro games.  I wonder do they sell better in Russia?

Did gran turismo sell more in countries they have tracks from?

Cod4 sell more in Russia and the Middle East?

Will Assassin’s Creed origins sell more in Egypt then the series normally does?

Will far cry 5 sell more then usual in the south of the USA?

Did watch dogs 2 see strong sales in San Francisco and did watch dogs 1 see strong sales in Chicago?

I'd love if somebody did a study on this.

I think so. Assassin's creed 2 and Brotherhood (even revelations) are the most well-known chapters here in Italy. Are also the best chapters in the whole series for critics and public, especially the protagonist Ezio Auditore which has been "abused" by Ubisoft for it's popularity, but there still a huge gap in popularity.

An other exapmple could be Shadow of Rome which is popular in Italy despite it's low sales.

Gamers here are interested mostly in PC games like LoL and things like that, not much luck!

Lost legacy still #4 on amazon India. The games location surely boosted sales there.
