Forums - Sony - Can we expect a new PS4 console reveal at TGS?

There is zero chance that they reveal a new PS4, or a PS5. There is a small chance that they would hint at something though, just to try to take a little bit of wind out of the X1X's sails.

There is zero chance that they would release a handheld, unless they've figured out a way to make something that can play PS4 games in a handheld form factor, that could launch at a reasonable price. But, since they operate in the same world as all of us, this can't happen with now.

I'd say there is a small chance that they could have a VR development. I doubt it though.

They aren't going to want to cut the generation when they are dominating THIS much

I agree.  Sony has nothing to gain, and everything to lose by rushing to the next generation.  I think they'll try to ride out the PS4 family for as long as the market will let them.  And, with mid-generation refreshes, I think that could be longer than the last gen.

Even if the X1X is a mega hit, Sony has such a huge share of the market right now that they would have no reason to rush into the next generation.  I guess it could cause them to stuff a little more juice into a PS4 Pro 2 or something, for release in late 2018 or 2019.....

Nope, there is no needfor it because PS4 Pro is still very new.

Nope there probably won't be any new hardware announcement until at least 2019. Sony has absolutely no reason to fear the Xbox One X at the moment sure they can't say they have the strongest hardware anymore but they are still the market leader by a good margin. They still got the most third party support and have more diverse exclusives then Microsoft and got the marketing to the most important AAA third party games.

Yes but if power is what you want, the PS5 won't be for you.

You think the PS5 is gonna be Sony's answer to the Switch?

Does Sony need an answer to the Switch?
