So, adding with physical according to Famitsu too (http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=230787)

3DS: 1,130,468 + 62,939 = 1,193,407
PS4: 950,338 + 113,182 = 1,063,520

Very good sales indeed. Not as some interpreted into the earlier statement that PS4 has with digital stronger sales than 3DS, probably according to userbase only stronger than expected. In any case, this are extremely good sales on both platforms. Congrats Squenix. Now hoping for similarly strong sales on Switch.

I agree, I'm scratching my head at that comment.

People unfamiliar with the series tend to talk shit about it without ever looking at the history, legs, and power of the Dragon Quest series. I'll always champion it though

Yeah.  It doesn't seem likely there were enough PS4 digital sales to surpass the 3DS sales.

Well there was still relatively twice more digital sales on PS4:

PS4: around 12 % of sales were digital

3DS: around 6 % of sales were digital

Well there was still relatively twice more digital sales on PS4:

PS4: around 12 % of sales were digital

3DS: around 6 % of sales were digital

Not only relative, also absolute the digital sales were stronger on PS4. But some assumed from the public statements that adding digital sales the PS4-version had sold more. That seemed highly unlikely, as that would have needed very strong digital sales.

Eh? DQ11's launch has been fairly typical for recent DQ game in Japan (DQ10 aside).

Dragon Quest VI - 1.53m
Dragon Quest VII - 1.82m
Dragon Quest VIII - 2.27m
Dragon Quests IX - 2.34m
Dragon Quest XI - 2.26m

11 is about tied with 8 as the 2nd biggest launch for the series, and both are only about 3.5% off 9. I find it hard to see how that could be interpenetrated as "bad" for the series in Japan.

I can't wait! Haven't played a DQ game since DQ8, and it was a legendary experience.
