Apparently it took the original 7 months to reach a million. The sequel has done it in one month.

So when people said this could do 8-10 million ... were they way off?

No...? Because this is Japan only and it did around 2m first month WW. That's an amazing start for a game known for its legs.

Btw, this data in OP shows that Splatoon 2 did in 1 month what took the first game 7 months.

I was genuinely asking by the way, not trying to be a dick. This is a game i've legitimately flipped flop on, it's very hard for me personally to predict it's Lifetime sales ... so i'm not trying to discredit the game, in fact I was thinking it would do 10 mil LT before it's release. Mulling it over again, it seems like 7-8 mil is in the bag, and 10 mil is very likely. Again, I flip flop on this one a lot, lol : P 

I know, it's hard to predict sales for games with long legs. xD I honestly don't know where it will land. Could be anywhere from 8m to 12m honestly.

I was thinking it might not have the legs of the original Splatoon because it's already started with such a big install base at launch, but when you consider how much better the Switch is doing than the Wii U, and that a lot of newcomers to Splatoon will buy it, legs will probably be consistently better than Splatoons. Now the question is how much sales that generate, and also how big will the increase in sales be in Europe and NA?
