Forums - Gaming - Your unpopular/controversial gaming opinions

GameCube was the worst Nintendo console, and if it weren't for the N64 controller's analog stick durability issues, would be the only Nintendo console with a bad controller.

Metroid Prime is by far the most overrated game series in Nintendo's history.

Yamauchi's decision to go with cartridges on the N64 was the single most destructive thing Nintendo ever did to themselves by a long shot.

Final Fantasy 9 was a drag. More fitting as a spinoff title than a core game. To a lesser extent, Final Fantasy 12, but mostly only lately have people been upset by my opinion on it.

Those are the four  that tend to get me in trouble on this board.

OoT is just a 7 out of 10.

On that note, I use the 1-10 scale in its entirety. So no, an average game is not a 7.

Heh, I was about to say that of my unpopular gaming opinions is that the way reviewers scale games is okay.

It's a double edged sword. Everyone complaints reviewers are too nice and give 10s to everything, but as soon as they get critical then they're biased, trolls or just plain stupid.

I mostly complain about the average gamer, not reviewers.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Sony fans are bitter that Sony's first party studios can't match the quality of Nintendo, so they make up ridiculous conspiracy theories about all reviewers being biased and blinded with nostalgia in an attempt to feel superior.

Interesting that you say that when Sony games win more GOTY awards than Nintendo games.

My opinion: Nintendo fans hate FFVII because FFVII jumping from Nintendo to Sony symbolises the demise of Nintendo from being the leader in the video games market to being relegated to a side player to PlayStation.

Emulators are not 100% accurate and are illegal. Save states are for the weak. All three companies have flaws and E.T. was actually a decent game.

How is that in any way a controversial opinion? That's basically fact.

I don't think that's accurate. I'm a Nintendo fan, but I love FF7 and 8. Also, Xenogears is my favourite game of all time. I think more Xbox fans hate FF7 than anything, because Japanese.

You do realize that Nintendo has won three generations to Sony's two (soon to be three), right? It's a tie game. If you want to throw in handhelds, it's a landslide. It's not nearly as onesided as you think.

I don't think I've ever said that without the emulator fans impaling me with flaming death.

Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind was better than oblivion or skyrim. It wasn't dumbed down to where monkeys could play it. It allowed you do a great deal with your character. So much so that I haven't seen any game that allows you that kind of freedom.

Keep political correctness out of video games. It will ruin it. If a character fits into a story well, cool but if a character or situation seems like it being slapped into a game to be "inclusive" to certain people. No. Just no.

I think that alot of nintendo's IPs are vastly overrated. Some people like 'em and that's just fine but alot of those games are definitely not the best ever or even that good. I wonder if some of the people played these games. Most of the games seem to be riding the coattails of their respective IPs and trying to bank on nostalgia. If you don't play games for nostalgia's sake, you probably won't think much of these games. There's a market for them so they should be around for the people who like them but let's just cut the bs reviews giving these games glowing scores to hype them up. It's very difficult to take any gaming mags seriously these days.

That's a strange thing to say when Nintendo's IPs are also the most popular in the industry. I guess it couldn't possibly be that you just have different taste from most people? No, clearly all reviewers are BS.

Figures. ugh.. They are not the most popular. Otherwise, their hardware and IPs would sell the best. Surely, some of it's IPs are popular but not the most popular. I'm not saying all reviewers are bs but some definitely are when they give generic games overly good scores or ratings. That also happens with all genres or brands but nintendo gets alot of those just because it's nintendo.

And you do realise that Nintendo's wins came before Sony came into the business, right? The only win Nintendo had since then was with the Wii which a lot would consider a Pyrrhic victory given the route Nintendo went down. As for handhelds, there's a reason why Sony won the 5th and 6th generation (and likely 8th generation) without having handhelds or with their handheld failing - handhelds are simply not that important.
