Merkel is just as popular as she is unpopular, in Europe as in Germany. The problem is the rest of the politicians are weak idiots so she can basically do what she wants. There is no real alternative to be seen. Germany doesn't even want to lead...it has to.
I btw am not critical about her concerning the refugee situation. Me and my family are even helping refugees from Iraq and Syria. The ones truly responsible for this refugee situation sit in Washington, London and Moscow and don't want to take responsibility at all.
Maybe Zelda and Mario can care for them in Mushroom Kingdom...!

Nice straw argument bringig up Hitler... but I was *of course* talking about Bundeskanzlers - chancellors of the Federal Republic of Germany (since 1949). Sad enough that you had to bring up that megalomaniac dictator to make Merkel look better 
Also I didn't say a word about the migration crisis (the few refugees are not the problem, the millions of unknown migrants are).
12.9 million people in Germany are living in poverty - a new record.
There's almost no money for our school system, but LOTS of money for warfare! Then again the Merkel-regime needs unedicated fools in order to be re-elected - so it makes sense (and it works).
She's abolishing democracy and free speech and still people see no problem in the Bundestrojaner(!), Ex-Stasi-employees censoring German Facebook (IM Victoria) or the upcoming spying on Whatsapp and stuff...

Yeah, there's a reason Merkel is nicknamed "Mutti" or "Mother" in Germany: She's like a mother to us germans, in a way, we are her children.
She's also full of courage, so "Mother Courage" would be a fitting name. Who knows, maybe someday someone will write a book on that, maybe titled "Mother Courage and her children" or something like that.
