Anyways, great hold for Switch and Splatoon 2, and of course awesome sales for Dragon Quest 11. PS4 did great this week as well, as did 3DS. It's always good to see these three sell strongly in Japan. Excited to see Switch sales for Obon

I agree with you but you should've been around when Switch sold 40K and PS4 sold 47K.

"OMG PS4 IN BEAST MODE!!", and then you had the Toad writing essays, and other comments such as "The Switch is supply restrained, so STFU B*TCH!".

It does get messy around here.

Anyway, very nice sales all around! I'm a little disappointed in Radiant Historia and Final Fantasy XV completely falling off the charts, but what is on the charts are doing well.

Well im not trying to take anything away from the Switch. Selling 18k over a ps4 really IS a lot, especially because its supply constrained. Its kind of a trade off though because the PS4 already has a majority of the DQ market so its not surprising the sales didnt outtake the Switch. Plus its an old console and even though the Switch is outpacibg it the PS4 didnt have its splatoon or mario kart or zelda for Japan at this time frame. If anyting it just shows how dedicated Nintendo is to packing this year with worldwide system sellers. Id be much more interesting to see how PS4 would fair this early in its life with a Dragon Quest 11.

Switch is definitely driven more by specific core Nintendo IP. 

It reminds me a bit of the N64 early on. 

Also while 1,2 Switch (around 220k) and ARMS (around 185k) have done ok ... it does show that motion centric games are not really having that big of an overall impact on the Switch. In Japan it looks like Nintendo Land has a good chance of outselling both of these games (remember Nintendo Land like Wii Sports was sold seperately in Japan). 

People want those big main line Nintendo IP. Granted Bomberman has done pretty well for itself and Ultra SF2 did well globally, so I think that shows nostalgia also does well on the Switch, likely because of its older userbase. Switch is going to be interesting, I don't think it's going to behave quite like how one might expect a Nintendo console in certain situations. It's very much its own beast.
