It doesn't matter what MS says, or you think MS is saying. And I doubt you can show us a single place that MS clearly says they are not making the XB1x to compete with the PS4/pro...... yes they said its a premium console, that doesn't mean its not competing for the same game dollars.

Besides, common sense dictates that the XB1X is in the very same "home console" market that the XB1 and the PS4/PS4pro is in.

And the bolded part? Please just stop..... the XB1 launched at $500, does that mean it wasn't competing with the PS4? The PS3 launched at $600.... does that mean it wasn't competing with the 360?

Come on man........

I even found several articles for you in case one wasn't enough. Need more?

@ second bolded: You're going with a logic of "well it' a videogame system releasing in the video game industry so it's of course competing since people have to choose which console they will buy", I never denied that. I simply said that's not what Microsoft made it for specifically though, this idea that "Oh and with THIS we're going to finally overtake other consoles and become #1 again" thinking some people are trying to say Microsoft had (which who knows, could be true, but nobody would be able to know that so it's irrelevant), which is what they have said the opposite of this entire time, which you seem to be having a hard time understanding.

@ third bolded: Please just stop what, saying the truth? It's not my fault if you can't handle it my guy.

wow... talking about twisting facts to suit a narrative.

Did you even read those articles?

MS saying the PS4pro is "no competition" for the XB1X is not the same thing as saying its not in competition with the PS4.

MS is trying to justify the price of their $500 "game console" by saying that its just all round much better hardware than the PS4pro and thats why it costs what it does.

Nowhere does MS say the XB1X is not competing with other game consoles.

And you are not saying the truth if you base it off the $500 price tag. I have cited multiple examples that you conveninetly ignored on "console" pricing that didn't suddenly exclude the consoles from competing with their nearest direct rival.

Just in case you missed it... I will say it again.

PS3 launched at $600 vs 360 at $400. They were competitors.

PS4 launched at $400 vs XB1 at $500. They were competitors.

PS4pro lauched at $400 vs XB1X at $500. They will be competitors.

All of the above are all "game consoles". They are all competitors. With different prices and different "marketed" value propositions. I mean if thats the case I guess we could all say the PS3 wasnt competing with the 360 because the PS3 could play bluray movies.

I think Pachter is known well enough around here that he doesn't have to be referred to as "analyst" in the title. In any case, it's not like the goal of the XBOX was to outsell the PS4, not even MS expects that (or at least they shouldn't be!)

If it said Pachter though I probably just wouldn't have bothered clicking.

Well, was the click even worth it?

Michael Pachter... AKA: Sherlock Holmes

Oh was the X in direct competition with the PS4? I didnt know that. I thought premium products were targeted at a different market..

1. What exactly have I "twisted" or 'coveniently ignored'? I literally just showed you examples of Microsoft saying what I said after you tried to say I wouldn't be able to show any.

2. You're trying to talk about "twisting" things when you literally just did that. Microsoft said that the Xbox One X isn't in 'competition' with the PS4 Pro as in they didn't make it to compete with it. You're saying that they said the PS4 Pro is 'no competition' to the Xbox One X because of how much more powerful it is when that's not what they said or meant.

3. You ignored the entire point completely and are still going with the 'well they are both in the industry so they are immediately competing' and ignored what I said before, which is that just because they are both in the video game industry, and thus are wanting people to persuade people to buy their consoles, doesn't mean that it was MADE to compete with something else though.

4. My original post was the Xbox One X wasn't made to compete with them because that's not what Microsoft made it for, they made it because they wanted to offer a premium product to their consumers and the public, not to try and overtake the PS4 with it, which they said multiple times. You have yet to refute or show anything against that in any way thus far, especially since I just showed you plenty of articles where they did in fact say that.

5. I never said that the Xbox One X being $500 meant that it couldn't compete with anything(it wasn't made to). Now you are just trying to put words into my mouth. I said that the Xbox One X being $500 shows that Microsoft, even after saying it plenty of times now, did NOT make it to compete with the PS4 or PS4 Pro, so they were fine with pricing it at $500 since it's a premium item.

Also @ bolded: I seriously don't even know what this has to do with anything or what point you're trying to make. You're just stating random things. I never said it had anything to do with power or features of a console.

Ok... lets look at your articles....

from the techno fuffalo one titled. "Pro is no competition for the XB1X according to MS" here is a quote...

I look at Pro as more of a competitor to S than I do to Xbox One X. This is a true 4K console. If you just look at the specs of what this box is, it’s in a different league than any other console that’s out there. When I think about techniques to somehow manufacture a 4K screen like what some other consoles try to do, this is different than that. This is 40 per cent more GPU. The amount of RAM we have in this, the speed of the RAM, the speed of the harddrive, the reaction we’re getting from developers.

So errr..... you still think thats the same as saying we are not in competion with the Pro?

Even with other articles.... eg the one from extremetech that says

Microsoft Exec: PS4 Pro Competes With Xbox One S, not Xbox One X

Thats not saying its not competing with eth PS4.... what these articlesare saying is how much better the XB1X is to the PS4pro... you hear things like tru-4k, more ram...bla bla bla get thrown around in those articles. Thats a price justification, not a decleration of what market they are competing in.... if you can't get that still i don't know what to say.

2. You're trying to talk about "twisting" things when you literally just did that. Smh...... from the first two articles i you quoted I just showed you that that is exactly what they meant and theysaid it. Yet you are still having a hard time understanding that. I advice that you go read those articles again.....

Didn't ignore anything at all.... kinda hard to go over stuff again when you even quote facts to support what I am saying but somehow find other ways of interpreting them.

But ok, the XB1X isn't made to compete with the PS4/PS4pro..... Does that even make sense?

I really suggest you read those articles again.....

5. I never said that the Xbox One X being $500 meant that it couldn't compete with anything(it wasn't made to). Now you are just trying to put words into my mouth. Errrrr........... sigh.

Also @ bolded: I seriously don't even know what this has to do with anything or what point you're trying to make. You're just stating random things. I never said it had anything to do with power or features of a console.

Those aren't random things. MS says the XB1X (as per their article) isn't in competetion with the PS4 pro with supporting arguments like tru 4k, more ram, UHD bluray player....etc. Basically, ours is better than theirs. Oh and of course premium pricing.... Those random things you are saying I am just saying is to prove that this isn't the first time in history that one company has done something to differentiate itself from the competition.... doesn't suddenly mean they are no longer on competition with those people.

I really think you should read those articles again.

Replies in bold...... I am beginning to think we should just agree to disagree. We are looing at the exact same material, but somehow seemingly arriving at totally different conclusions.

"analyst" in title instead of "Pachter", I see what you did there!

...also, no shit.

I could have swore we had a thread on this Pachter prediction already.

But anyway, the PS4 already trounces the Xbone S in sales. Microsoft has stated multiple times they expect the S to outsell the X. So unless my math is off, that means they're also expecting the PS4 to outsell the X. There is no universe where MS is expecting the X to suddenly have them start selling more consoles than anyone else.

Yeah let's just agree to disagree. You can think whatever you want.
