Forums - Sales - Capcom sales up 7.5% year-on-year 1st (Apr - Jun) Qtr 2017

Capcom just published its financial results for the three months ended on June 30th, with net sales reaching 11,746m yen (£80.6m) and representing a 7.5 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.

The Japanese developer and publisher estimate its revenue will reach 93bn yen (£638m) by the end of the fiscal year ending in March 2018, which is what they already projected back in April.

Digital games did particularly well, with sales up 14.1 per cent year-on-year, reaching 7,688m yen (£52.7m).

Although the first quarter corresponds to the market's off-season in terms of the launch cycle for major titles, Ultra Street Fighter II (for Nintendo Switch), which was released in May 2017, made an excellent start and proved to be a smash hit,” the report reads. “In addition, Resident Evil 7 biohazard (for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC) and Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross) (for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems) contributed to revenue to a certain extent.”

Licensing and merchandise performed really well as well, with sales reaching 415m yen (£2.85m), representing a 13.2 per cent increase year-on-year.

USF 2 made their profit go up... it must have cost £1 each unit to produce and £1 to ship.

And even after that, they will release a more complete SF version on oher consoles and Monster Hunter XX Switch will test "Switch's support". How does this company keeps its customers, again?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

So the one overpriced Switch port of a 20-year old game, siglehandedly drove your sales up this quater, but naturally you still need to test the waters some more ans bring superior ports to other systems. Check.

I miss the times when Capcom and ninty had an actual good relationship. They used to make Zelda games, remember?

Sweet.  That's a pretty cool collection!

Capcom stop being a dumbass. What you are doing is throwing money away. Make MH5 and mega man11 for switch and you'll be printing money.

I really hope we get more Street Fighter on the Switch, it's one of my all-time favourite franchises.

I'd love a new Mega Man :( Specially if it was a Battle Network/Star Force esque game.
