All companies often tell us stuff to cover up for bad policy. If they can't deliver a good reasoning the assumptions in this direction will grow. And it is fair: after all companies would give their reasoning if they have the feeling players would accept that. If we always wait for and believe the official explanation, companies would get away with basically everything, they would've just not have to talk about it. But we should talk about bad policies and bad decisions. The only way to improvement.

And wow this blind defensiveness. Sony doesn't permittign cross-play with competitors consoles might be good for Sony, but not for gamers. I don't see that I have to take the position of the company (any company), but I have to take my position as gamer. And for me it is better if I can play RocketLeague and Minecraft with players from different platforms. Not too big a deal, but nothing I have to take the position of the company barring the better experience for the players:

Sony being the Trump in gaming, keeping people with different preferences divided. Truly sad.

But that was about Minecraft, was it not? People are adding Rocket League after. Because Rocket League. They ignore the fact it's been cross play between PC and PS4 from the start because of reasons.

Regardless of sides, things are petty. I can understand Sony not wanting users logging into Xbox Live, as you can too but if their reason for Rocket League, a game you can't mod, is to 'Protect the children.' Then that seems bullcrap and petty. I just don't think we know the true reason.

I got annoyed when i purchase Elite Dangerous and it asked me to link/create and account. I already had one as I got 'Elite' for free from them years ago but that's not the point. I even have a Xbox Live Account which I've used to get freebies too.

I do not however have a Ubisoft account, which means I haven't purchase an Ubisoft game or participated in any of their free Betas over the last many years and I don't intend on creating one.

I've never had that thought about them, they are like the industries chill guy. They are like "Great, you guys go over there and argue while we make another awesome Mario game everyone buys." No arrogance, they just get on with it.

I'm with you on the seperate sign ups/logins for various games. It's don't like having to do it, and I usually avoid any game that requires it. As for specifically signing into XBL? Haha, ya, that's happening. That divorce is final. No children. And the plan is to never see each other again.

Because it shrinks their exclusive boners.

Nintendo has done their fair amount of bullshit. Recently I'm unhappy with their seemingly discontinuation of Miiverse.

So maybe Microsoft should allow Sony to handle the online crossplay side and have Nintendo and Xbox users to sign up for PSN.

No. Stay separate, Sony! I do not trust Phil Spencer as I have spoke on in a previous thread! He seems to want to merge all gaming together. Xbox and PC, then Switch, then PlayStation. After everybody is chumy, Microsoft may go in for the kill with a merger or takeover.

Imagine the potential bland gaming landscape with MS in control, for those of us that like single player, story driven games. MS caters to the online gamer (which is fine for many) and does not focus on single player. They have pushed for online multiplayer since the original Xbox. Single player is what I like. I find the best experiences alone with a deep story driven, single player game. I have heard about all the younger and immature gamers on Xbox live being rude, racist, etc. Not saying all younger gamers on Xbox are like that, though. But Xbox live has had a bad reputation for that. Also, I think this may pose security risks with all of these online companies linked together.

As long as MS doesn't require XBL there is a possibility, but then Sony will have to also give up on the protection of market they have by blocking it.
