Forums - Sony - PS+ prices increasing in some regions on August 31st

As much as I find it silly how you have to pay for oline at all (and one of the reasons why I'm a PC gamer), I also find it silly how some people react to a 10 euro increase per year. It's not per month, it's per year. It's 10 beers, or 5 depending on where u live, or one pizza, or one visit to a hairdresser PER FREAKING YEAR

Indeed. PSN is now CAD 70 a year, mobile phone with data plan is now CAD 70 a month for 2GB data (excl phone subsidy). Have a little perspective...
If you buy $350 worth of digital games a year with the 20% ps+ discount you have paid it back. In Canada that's 4.4 new games...

And now we have rumors that PSplus will now include 2 psnow games and 2 movies.

Shame most of the countries in these regions don't even have access to PSnow and PS movies. like mine

I've heard of Americans plans that cost less and give ultimited data (shocking when I first heard it). Us Canadians being screwed as usual, eh?

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

If they didn't take it down for maintenance, I would be fine with the pricing but the fact that they do makes me think it should be a lot cheaper than XBL. But, you know.... money.

it's been £40 for 7 years though

still, people should look for deals a buy a few years in advance now

Really? I thought for sure it used to be £30? Maybe I'm thinking of XBL Gold or something?

I think so, but I might be wrong. Definitely been £40 for a while

This is the first price increase in any of the affected territories.

I believe this would make it in line with US price increase that happened a year or two ago.

Nah. The US price increase a few years ago pout it in line with the many other countries.
This is an additional price increase above the previous standard. At least for Sweden.

12 Months on US PSN: $59.99 = 488 SEK
12 Months on Swe PSN: 480SEK ---> 575SEK

US price is without tax.

Anyway, seems like people are making a fuzz out of nothing much at all really. It's just catching up to inflation and currency fluctuation.

PC looking more and more beautiful.

Especially the inflation of graphic cards and processors.

Not in every state. It depends on what state you chose on your PSN. Some don't charge tax.
Or you can buy PSN cards from places like Playasia. I bought a $20 card the other week, and they didn't charge extra for tax.

I don't think you got what I meant. In Europe, tax is included in the price, so when it says 575 SEK, that is including tax (and Sweden does have a sales tax), while in the US, when it says 60$, that is without tax, regardless of if the state has a sales tax or not.

Inflation? These things inflate?

No, I don't think you got what I meant.
PSN literally doesn't charge for tax in some states, for the same product. And it retains the same price.

A few weeks ago I was buying Zero Escape: Nonary Games on a US PSN account set to Washington, iirc. It said it cost $29.99, but at checkout it was $32 or $33.
So I created a new PSN account and set it to a different state, and now at checkout that same game cost $29.99.

There are guides on Youtube that suggest certain states and area codes because of this.

Yes, I do know that, what I'm trying to tell you is that Sweden's PS+ is more expensive because Sweden has a sales tax. Which is included in the price.
