Yeah, I personally think they're gonna pull the same trick they did with GTA 5. Release the game on PS4 and XB1 just a few months before the PS5 and new Xbox are out, and then release the game on PS5/Next Xbox about a year later just in time for the holiday season to get people to buy the game a 2nd time.
August/September/Early October 2020: GTA 6 releases on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One
October/Early-mid November 2020: PlayStation 5 and the Next Xbox are released
October/November 2021: GTA 6 released on PlayStation 5 and the Next Xbox
Early 2022: PC release
Holiday 2019, has gotta be. Would've said 2018 but 'next gen' releases probably set it back another year including all the extra content for GTA Online etc.
There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'
In two months GTA V will be 4 years old.
Thing is, GTA V and GTA online are doing so well, releasing GTA VI would only mean competing against themselves.
I think GTA is going to "skip" this gen.
With all the money gta 5 made. I can see them releasing it near the end of the PS4 cycle and then doing a remaster for ps5. It's the only game I can think of that's sold as much as it did during two generations. The game is greatest game I've ever played. It deserves the sales and so much more. It didn't get a lot of sales being boxed for free, it didn't release at a time or on a system where there wasn't a lot of games to compete.

Not sure how well that trick will work this time if everyone has backwards compatibility.
Nov 2016 - NES outsells PS1 (JP)
Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

Thats why I think it ll be 2020, instead of 2019.
At the end of the gen, there will be a GTA..... then abit into the new gen, the port it over to the PS5/XB2 with better graphics.
Basically what Poklane said, they will get people to double dip.

That's true. Maybe they could make the PS5/Next Xbox versions native 4k and 60FPS compared to 1080p 30FPS for the PS4 and XB1 versions, that'd get a lot of people to double dip even if the PS4 and XB1 versions are BC on PS5 and the Next Xbox. They'd also probably drop support for PS4 and XB1 after 2 years or so while continuing support on PS5 and Next Xbox for a lot longer, which would be another reason to double dip even if the PS4 and XB1 versions are BC.
I am expecting a 2020 release for this game!

And that is exactly the reason why! ^^
