Anyone with a basic understanding of math can see that mobile and other IP-related ventures accounted for a mere 5.9% of Nintendo's income this quarter.

I'm looking at the profit numbers in the OP. What are you looking at?

Why would you compare the income of mobile/IP to the profits of Nintendo as a whole? You're supposed to look at the total income, which is the net sales category.

It makes no sense to compare income to net sales. Net sales is just the money Nintendo made from selling stuff. It does not take into considered cost of goods, expenses, etc.

Still very impressive for MK8 numbers.. 8.3M copies for 13.5M consoles

Is only a matter of time when MK8DX will surpass BotW

Yes, you have just described exactly why your comparison makes no sense. The "Profits" section takes into account all of the expenses, while the specific "Mobile" category is purely income, and should thus only be compared to other pure income figures.

I invite you to look at page 7 of their consolidated financial highlights, in which they list the total income of mobile/IP as 9.062 billion yen, versus the 144.615 billion yen of income from their dedicated gaming devices.

Those Zelda sales are incredibly amazing, though MK will end-up surpassing it. Great sales for Arms, too.
Shame that NSMB2 outsold SM3D Land...

You're right. There is no way of knowing how much of that income (we know it's not actual sales revenue since this is after Nintendo has paid platform royalties to Apple or Google) translates to profit. We still cannot compare the 2. Hardware and physical games have much higher expenses that mobile games after platform royalties. A shame that Nintendo doesn't give a breakdown because I'd love to see how much of their profits come from mobile. Probably a huge chunk of it.

I'm liking these Switch numbers. Makes me feel like Nintendo is back in form.
