Ive seen duderandom play some games on 4k like shadow of mordor and assassins creed black flag, that sharpness must be real but sadly the video's don't support the resolution.

On my PC I can do 8k with extremely low framerates and the sharpness is indeed, very sharp. But obviously my monitor only goes to 4k and the horsepower needed to do it deff isn't worth the gains.

4k is deffenitely worth it if you can run it but high graphics settings will always be a winner over pure resolution, many games have proven this in the past and high framerates will always be better then any setting possible in a game and that is what pc gamers should focus on!

I think 480p is all right, 720p is great. I don't need higher resolutions, since I barely see any difference.

1080P here with PC/TV. No interest to get something better. I just flat don't care.

I switched from 1440x900 to 1080p a few years ago on PC (and I still miss, if not 4:3 anymore, 16:10 aspect ratio, it's a lot better for everything but games and more than good enough for games), and on TV I did it from SD to 768p even later, and just last year to 1080p, I'm fine with 1080p for the next few years.
4k will come when it will be dirt cheap and, on PC, when it won't only be cheap, but also passive cooled GPUs will support it at decent framerates.
8k, well, will it be during this life or later?

Your signature does say to ignore you, so...

There is a Huge difference believe me.

Higher resolutions are always better when hardware to support it exists. Right now we don't even have the fucking plugs to support 4k144Hz let alone GPUs to handle that load.

I will go 8k as soon as the technology is there, but for now I'm still waiting for the technology to be there for 4k.

Youtube's 4k sucks, so... not really worth watching anyway.

If you want high quality 4k video game footage visit Digital Foundry's site.
I think they have a few free videos, else-wise you need to be a $5 patron.

I upgraded last year to 4k. First the monitor and graphics card which cost me 1500€ in sum. And at the end of the year I bought a 4k TV for around 1800€ with a discount of 500€. So the price was 2300€ before the discount.

Gaming in 4k is great. Youtube is meh....
For the TV I got youtube 4k hdr content which is not much and 4k content on amazon video. Which is slowly increasing.

Free TV 4k content is far away.
8k is way too early for germany.

HDMI 2.1 can do 8k120.
DisplayPort 1.4 can do 8k60, 4k144 and 4k240 with DSC (almost lossless compression).
I am not sure about 4k144 on HDMI 2.1, but 8k120 is more data, so yeah.
