I expect it will be one of those short series (around 4 - 12 minutes) But Yay!

Surprised it took them long enough. There are many Nintendo games that are popular among the Japanese audience such as Animal Crossing or FE. Let's hope for the latter.

Simple question: Why did it take so looong?? It was time already.

I havn't read the manga. Is it corny?

Rhythm game coming featuring the Squid Sisters and Off the Hook in a crossover with Vocaloid wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

Though the XCOM Enemy Unknown dev seems quite happy to see Mario+Rabbids taking notes from them and one of the lead devs jokingly suggested Nintendo call them. I would take them up on that, look at setting up a turn based tactical shooter/strategy game based on Splatoon.  Ink mechanics would make for unique features.  

Let's just hope it isn't effeminate. I love Splatoon to death but the fact that their main characters are all-female and it's full of girlly pop music kind of bothers me. Games are better when they're a healthy mix.

The Manga is from corocoro, so elementary school target demographic.

Of course the anime could take different spin on it but I doubt it. I expect a full on kids squids show.
