Also, wtf happened to the XB1 sales? It was trending well the first 3 months of the year, but now we're seeing numbers decline. Maybe people waiting for Xbox One X?

I'm a bit puzzled as well. I thought the demand for S would slow, but not nearly to this extent. I actually expected it to be up by a decent percentage YoY. I suppose it could be the One X effect, though that would be a looonngg wait for a relatively expensive system (solely by its price tag, I'm not commenting on its value). Maybe Switch sales are dividing the potential XB1 buyers more than the potential PS4 buyers?

Same thing that happend to the PS4.

First 3 months it was doing almost 400k, then it drops to like 200k.

What happend? the Switch launched (looks like it effected the Xbox One more though).

*edit: That Gold/Silver limited 1tb version for 249$ has a nice effect on sales, that and Crash bandicoot returning.

PS4 probably had monsterous sales in europe for June too.

Actually, that's typical of most years. Because of tax returns, February tends to be a big month sales-wise, with March a little below it. April and May are much slower, to the tune of 50% or so. PS4 is actually up YoY, even with the Switch's launch. The XB1's numbers are oddly low, however, because the release of the S has seemingly slowed to the point that it is selling worse than last year, and doesn't have the prospect of the mid-summer bump the S provided last year.

Also, holy shit at the PS4's numbers. I did not expect the gold PS4 and Crash to have that much of an effect on sales.

Imagine what the europe sales look like.

They(we) had the sexier silver version, with 2 controllers.... also I think Crash bandicoot was more popular here.

PS4 Sales are gonna be massive worldwide for june.

I'd chalk this up to exclusives.  You got a lot of people looking to get into this gen with prices being so low, now.  They look up PS4 and they have like 1-2 exclusives for each month for the first few months of the year.  They look up XBO and they see...Halo Wars 2.  Which do you think most people are going to get?  With MS decreasing the amount of AAA exclusives they are making/buying, it will most likely get worse when the PS4 hits $199 and it still has a dozen or more AAA exclusives launching in the next year or two.

If the June ps4 numbers are accurate, then I can only imagine how well a $249 Battlefront 2 bundle will do this holiday, especially if they reduce it to $199 or so on black friday and in December.

PS4>Xbone+Switch

But how is the PS4 beasting so much? Crash Bandicoot?

The two most powerful words in video game marketing: Limited. Edition.  The limited edition gold PS4 was launched last month and scalpers and customers alike gobbled it up.

As for Xbone colapse, this is in my opinion the result of the natural late spring/early summer decline crossed with severely eroded consumer confidence.  Canceling Scalebound, closing studios, these decisions didn't gut Microsoft's BIGGEST franchises but it no doubt was a greater symbolic loss in consumer minds than MS thought it would be, implying a lack of confidence in Xbox by Microsoft and a lack of new game focus for the Xbox brand.  And the Xbox One X announcement coming with very few new games alongside it has no doubt left those not interested in the super premium consoles (ie 80% of the dedicated console consumer base) feeling a bit left out in the cold.

All software ranks are coming this Thursday. With lots of PS4s sold in June I want to see how Crash did.

Wow those PS4 numbers are insanely high compared to the X1. I haven't been paying much attention to the sales lately, but I always thought PS4 and X1 were neck and neck in the US.

Why would they be neck and neck when the PS4 had more compelling titles the first half of the year? I'm not saying that to start a console war. I'm saying it seems more of a reason why PS4 sales are over Xbox One here in North America. I think the gap is still the same between the 2 giants.
