Forums - Gaming - Anthem. We Need To Talk About It.

I'm trying to believe that graphics will look like this but I know I'm lying to myself. Especially because this game is certainly influenced by Destiny and will have multiplayer as a key factor. Consoles can't handle all that, and only a minority of PCs can.

It does seem a fun game with Mass Effect gameplay.

3DS, Wii, PSP, Vita, PS2, PS3, PS4 & Steam.

That's Bioware's A team so I'm not too worried about it.

Skepticism is good especially after all the bs we've gone through the gen with downgrades and disappointments. If they can pull it off more power too them but I'm not getting my hopes up until I seem some reviews and complete builds

Considering what i believe Bioware has done, is they moved there budget away from ME4 and used it in Anthem. Game looked amazing however i cant see this being the launch game. High end PCs i am sure will run it close however consoles? Not too sure. It is checkerboard on X1X which means they have alot more power to play with however the fact its openworld? I am staying calm about it until closer to release.
Cool concept

I honestly don't care how well it plays or looks. If it's an online-only game like Destiny was, then I'm not bothering with it.

Its fully playable offline.

Thought it looked great but so did Destiny 1 when they first showed it. Not much to talk about at the moment. Wait till Q1 2019 for more info and close to release date.

I missed "We need to talk about it " threads. :)

About Anthem. Never cared about the graphics, but the game itself just looks dull. I have a feeling they just threw together a bunch of things from successful games without being creative or bringing something new to the table. I don't know, looks boring to me, probably won't play it.

The following are faults in the trailer (not all of them), the trailer does seem to be real; or at least running on an actual machine for gaming (though I guess they could of rendered it all at half speed (15 FPS) and sped it up (to ~30FPS) in post).

Screenshots and gifs where taken from Digital Foundry's upload of the Xbox One X trailer.
The source is of high quality, but not lossless so there are some pretty bad compression artifacts. Upscaling artifacts are present and add to the blurriness of the images, but I have done all I can to ensure that I have not harmed the image quality.
Please view the screenshots and gifs on a 4k screen that has been properly calibrated for colour accuracy.

Here is the ffprobe output for the source file I used.

Anthem is mainly being developed by a team in Bioware Austin with a smaller contingent working on it from Edmonton. This game was not supposed to be announced at E3, but MS paid EA tens of millions of dollars to get this to a point so MS could announce this during their conference. This game was running like hot garbage weeks before E3, and EA actually flew in some specialists from DICE to work on the game for a few weeks with the development team to turn things around and get it ready. Swimming and flying were completely broken before they got involved. The only part of the game that is as good as the E3 demo are the parts shown in the E3 demo, and that came by making a bunch of temporary shortcuts in order to make this game presentable. Practically everything else has to be re-done or completely reworked, and they have a lot of work to do in order to try and match the bar they set for themselves at E3. Do not be surprised if this game looks worse at launch.

The development of this game got off to a very rocky start due to some key personnel being in over their heads. Heads have rolled at EA over this game already and there will probably be more to follow. They're looking to change some development processes to be more like the DICE crew's work processes but that might require a shift in the makeup the development to make it happen.

This game might turn out great but the E3 presentation was a whole lot of makeup on a pig. That's not a lot of time considering they're aiming for a fall 2018 release. You can expect MS timed exclusive content for Anthem in response to Sony's deal with Destiny.

This is such a big lie and a load of bullshit! Alright, so what big game has BioWare Edmonton been working on for the past 4-5 years? You must have some big beef with BioWare because this is such a big claim.

Source?

Or just a big load oh rubbish?

If it is true MS got more than they bargained for with the Playstation Youtube controversy.
