No, I own a copy of the movie on the physical medium, I may not have many rights to it like to make copies, but I still own a copy. My main point was my copy of the movie cant be taken away from me,  while a digital copy can be.

The reason why they don't use a SD card or other solid media, is the pricing. 50GB SD cards to equal Bluray space, are still in the expensive range. "You" don't like buying movies and TV shows. The rest of the world is differnet.

Correct,  movies would cost close to $40 a piece if they were on SD cards or flash drives.

SD cards are getting cheaper each year and soon will be able to get 50gb for pretty damn cheap.

@archer9234, yes I am glad you said that.  I am different from the rest of world.  I would label myself as crazy if I was another person.  You know what?  I like being different.  Better than being a mindless sheep.

You are a mindless sheep,  you are paying for something you dont own and never will own, unlike my physical copy o the movie.

Sorry Dude you only own the physical medium not the copy of the movie.

The movie and all likeness contained within remains the property of the copyright holder !

Welcome to Crappy Corporate America

1. actually you own a disc that happens to contain a copy of a movie on it.

2. And as for your main point that copy can be taken away from you, it could be stolen, damaged to the point where it is unreadable etc. A digital copy can be re downloaded at any time as long as the company is still active.

3.And additionally there are DRM schemes in the works which could have your player connect to the Internet to check if your copy is legit and block it if it isn't it is only a small step to move to a system that could censor banned material etc it's a brave new world out there lol.

1. Thanks for just repeating exactly what I said

2.  And your Hard Drive and Computer can be stolen, or you HDD can go bad.   And its like you said only if the company is still around and allowing that file to be downloaded.   But if a company dissappears, you cant redownload the file so how will that stop me from putting my Blu-ray in my PS3 and watching the movie?  It wont

3.  And if I bought my copy legit,  why would I care about this.  Plus i could just use a player that doesnt connect to the internet,   problem solved.   Sure they can make it so that it always has to be connected to the net but we both know there is ways around that.

2 if you HDD etc is stolen then download, that is one of the advantages of DD, if you are worried about that you could always burn to disc for backup. The chance of these companies going bankrupt and not being bought by another company are slim, you are more likely to have your stolen/damaged in the same time period.

And if my Blu-rays are stolen my home owners insurance can cut me a check for the losses.  And then I can go and rebuy them again.

Damaging them isn't really even really a question, scratches just don't happen on them with the coating they have for them. You really have to go out of your way to damage a Blu-ray disc. Plus if it was damage from any outside source, like a natural disaster/burglary.  It would also be covered under my home owners insurance.

Anymore updates on Blu Ray sales ?

I have one more week to put up to be caught up,  last weeks wont be available till early next week

I dont really have time to get the pictures for the last weeks numbers but here is the link for The Sales tracking Magazine that I get the weekly numbers from

http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/questex/hom857433RLX/index.php?startid=2#/4

Here are the numbers for week ending 08/01/2010

Blu-ray Ratio 13:87     Bad Week,  this needs to start improving

Top 20 Blu-ray Ratio:  33.5:66.5      Good week for our Top 20, 18 of the Top 20 available on Blu-ray

The Blu-ray percenteage on the Top 20 were quite impressive,  most ranging at about 20% and up.   15  out of the 18 available on Blu-ray were over 20%.   Highest being 44% for Clash of the Titans.

Waiting for the Total Revenue percentage numbers to come out for week ending 08/08/2010.   Should be a good week for Blu-ray,

Kick Ass came in with 49% Blu-ray sales.

Finally!  Star Wars is going to be released on Blu-Ray.  Not until next autumn/fall(/spring - for anyone downunder) though.  Expect sales to go through the roof.
