Forums - General - What's your opinion on Fox news?

The worst of the worst, in my opinion. Most pundits come off as arrogant, intolerant jerks.

Around the Network

Coming from the UK I can safely say your News channels in the US are shamelessly bias and are designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Fox are especially bad when it comes to this. I still remember the furore they caused when they had a go at Mass Effect for having PG-13 level nudity and sex!

In the UK News channels tend to be more neutral although our print media is probably worse than the US for outright bias.

Anyone remember this?

Everytime I'm in the US, I catch a glimpse of Fox News and CNN and I can't believe how terrible both these networks are. They both push their agendas in such a transparent way it's no wonder the viewers of The Daily Show were better informed most of the time.

Signature goes here!

Well, i agree. It's a propaganda channel for republicans.

I think there is one guy that is the exception and calls Trump's lackies on their BS (like his lawyer), and i actually just watch some of their stuff on youtube, but that's my impression.

I was never a fan. But, FOX News seems to be totally schizo these days, both defending, and being in fear of Trump. And I laugh after years and years of all the work trying to build up alternate political thinking at cost of credibility and image, that it's like they got the America they wanted by wishing on a monkey's paw. There are regrets.

The interesting thing about Fox News is that so many of their viewers really do believe they are "fair and balanced".

Also, that the median Fox News viewer is 68 years old is pretty damn amazing.

I always try listening to them whenever I'm driving, but the amount of rambling and obvious lies makes me irritated. Not surprising that most of their viewers are probably baby boomers who are out of sync with today's world.

I think they are a case study as to why news should not be a for profit business. Objectively as a marketing perspective Fox News is highly successful at finding and dominating a niche within an industry. Roger Ailes and the Koch brothers molded modern American political discourse using Fox News to reinforce narratives. The amount of money in news these days is obscene, just look up the salaries of these personalities.

I have zero doubt that in an alternate timeline where news stayed a dry yet vital instrument of information the 2016 election would have been a far different affair with dramatically altered styled candidates.

The level of hypocrisy I've seen on how they treat Obama vs how they treat Trump is astounding. If Obama did a tenth of what Trump is doing they would be screaming for his impeachment. You can say the same for other media outlets in the reverse, but Fox is at a whole different level while claiming to be "fair and balanced" it's disgusting

If so, there should be evidence of Fox News making a hypothetical "What if Obama was assassinated?" segment in order to keep a Bush aide in power.  CNN did that with roles changed to Trump assassination/Obama aide just days before the inauguration.  And for that same news network to suggest the Trump/CNN wrestling meme video is "inciting violence?"

"a whole different level"  Yeah right.

Not to defend them, but I was actually concerned about him being killed. Unlike Obama before his inauguration, A LOT of people were serious about harming him

I hate Fox News. Sure they cover more REAL issues than places like CNN or MSNBC, but they way they do it is the George Bush esque sort of neoconservative. I hate it personally. There are some good personalities on the channel, but I'm not a fan of it.

That being said, the rest of the left MSM I view as a bigger problem when it comes to propaganda machines, because when you compare Fox, the only Conservative news channel on cable, to the likes of ABC, CBS, HLN, NBC, CNBC, MSNBC, CNN, etc, the viewer count is 10x higher for the left. It doesn't matter whether the propoganda looks more appealing, it still IS propoganda. I'm in favor of fair and balanced coverage, something you can't find anywhere on TV.
