"Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes exists for people that liked Fire Emblem: Three Houses. It takes the narrative and characters of the original tactics RPG and provides an “alternative history” take on events, and that was an inspired way to allow the game to be both familiar while telling its own story. For anyone that fell in love with the characters the first time around, this approach makes this take very hard to put down, no matter how frequently you play the Musou releases. My overwhelming impression of this game is that it exudes confidence. Koei Tecmo's team had a clear vision on how to turn everything that people loved about Fire Emblem: Three Houses and turn it into an action game, and with the exception of one new character that turns out to be a Jar Jar Binks-level misfire, they have delivered on that vision. Or, to put it simply: people loved Three Houses, and for all the reasons that they did love that game, they will also love Three Hopes. " --This is the blurb from one of the highest rated reviews, but it seems to address your concerns. Skimming through the metacritic page (which are still coming in), that seems the be the general sentiment for story/lore. Most lower scores and criticisms seem to be the usual bots automatically mailing their Musou brand reviews, after likely playing the game for all of 10 minutes. |
Seems to be getting good reviews, so maybe it was just me. I was kind of expecting it to be closer to a fourth path similar to what Revelations was to Birthright and Conquest and maybe need to adjust my expectations.
Loved the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 direct.
The image for the expansion pass (including a new story scenario releasing late next year, apparently) had an image with the 3 swords from every main game on it. Seems like a hint.

It's just a pre-recorded breakdown video. Should be available on every Nintendo channel.
The direct was incredible. Increased my hype tenfold.
And yes you watch it even after it's over.
I'm a little wary because I found 2 to be underwhelming, but that direct has me pretty hyped. Although hate the DLC thing. Buy the time I figure out if I like the game enough to buy the DLC, it'll be too late to benefit from most of the stuff in there.
New Xenoblade looks incredible, very well crafted and polished. Seems like a 90+ game in coming
I never managed to like the combat system nor the exploration in Xenoblade 1, and only get myself through it because I was invested in story and characters so I guess I will skip Xeno 3, but if I was a fan I would be very pleased and hyped seeing what is coming

You are skipping it even though you think its well crafted and polished...? |
People have different tastes. The Last of Us by all accounts seems to be well crafted and polished, but is simply not the kind of thing I'd expect to enjoy. Just like if the world's greatest sushi chef made a plate of sushi, I would not want it because I just don't like fish.

Yes, I couldn't enjoy the battle system of the first game and this one seems to be pretty similar. I was liking it at first because it was looking promise albeit a bit confusing, but after 20 hours I realized that I wasn't really enjoying it, I even switched the game to easy mode to hush the fights and get to know the story ASAP, something that I almost never do. I really like the worldbulding and found the scenarios design to be clever, beautiful and atmospheric, but I couldn't find the exploration enough rewarding or even fun, instead I found it to be a long drag because as I wanted to know the story it looked like a huge undertake to cover the maps between the more significant plot points.
Swapping between character on the fly mid battle will make the battle system way better than the first two games imo.
