I'm disappointed with Tennis Aces' offline offerings. Adventure mode is a far cry from the kind of story-driven single-player modes offered in previous games (GBA/GBC versions) and is over very quickly - I cleared all of it in 3 hours. Similarly, single-player Tournament mode is very flimsy - 3 quick tournaments which I did in about 45 minutes. The lack of options and lack of a proper course select offline is also disappointing, and I find the music is seriously bland. In Mario Power Tennis on GameCube, there were 8 different tournaments with different rules and courts, which offered far more single-player value than Aces does. Sticking to either tiebreakers or two games/two Sets makes sense online, where you don't want games against strangers to go on indefinitely, but restricting options in the offline modes makes no sense to me. It would be very, very easy to give players more options in these modes - as well as a proper court select screen and further single-player (or local multiplayer) tournaments. It feels like they've cut corners.

I'm going to give online and local multiplayer a go over the next two or three weeks, but right now I'm worried Aces isn't going to have much long-term value for me and I might end up trading it in or selling it on eBay. It doesn't feel like it should command a £49.99 price-tag at all. While there's an obvious focus on online, even the online options are very limited - it's a far-cry from having say, half a dozen competitive and one co-operative mode on Splatoon 2's online, or several battle modes plus 48 tracks for racing on Kart 8 DX. I think mechanically the game is solid, and the range of characters good - but I hope Camelot patch in more options so I've got more varied choices when I'm offline or playing locally with friends.

Does anyone have any impressions of Mario Tennis Aces with the Gamecube Controller?

I hadn't tried that, but will give it a go later if I can.

My impressions of Aces have improved after a great local multiplayer session with friends last night. Still think it needs patching - Bowser Jr needs nerfing and Camelot really should give players more options for match rules (number of games/sets) and a proper court select screen.

Mario + Rabbids' Donkey Kong Adventure Expansion is out now

Didn't figure this was really thread worthy but it tickled my inner Shin'en fanboy; a member over on Resetera did a breakdown of the techniques and tricks they used to get Fast RMX looking as amazing as it does: https://www.resetera.com/threads/the-brainchild-factor-fast-rmx-switch-analysis-revealing-the-magicians-secrets.30365/

Key features involve PS4/Xbone tier methods like photogrammetry and volumetric light scattering, as well as shortcuts like rendering some scenery elements like plants in 2D, similar to the Forza Motorsport games on Xbox One.

And this just an enhanced port of a game originally built for the Wii U; imagine what they'll be able to pull off when they make a game from the ground up for Switch.

Even putting aside graphics, their games, while not the most inspired or creative, really hearken back to the lean, arcade-y gameplay sensibilities of the 90s, which I find pleasantly nostalgic.

I really hope they reveal what they're working on next soon, they've been in total radio silence since the last batch of FAST RMX DLC last September.

Well, the PS3/360 had Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition and Ultra Street Fighter IV, but I'm not sure how many people consider them to be new games. Though I do consider Smash Ultimate to be a new game myself.

Well, it's clear. Looking at those titles, every single one was still called Street Fighter IV, so even if there might have been considerable changes from one version to another (I wouldn't know because I don't play SF), ultimately Capcom themselves still considered it the same game. Nintendo doesn't consider Ultimate the same game, and that's really where it ends.

Well, that can also imply a specific series too, though. Like how there is Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wing and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.

Reviews have started coming out for Wolfenstein II:

Just finished the first level of Wolfenstein II.

For those who are wondering, the install is 8.1GB, at least here in PAL Land.

First impressions, it looks and runs better than the Switch version of Doom, and the motion controls feel excellent.

Panic Button always on point with their ports .... now, I'm even more interested in their next port ... Fallout 3 perhaps ?

I sure hope not, that would be preposterous overkill.  That would be like calling in the Army Corps of Engineers to help build a lemonade stand.

I wish Nintendo fans supported Yokai Watch more. It’s the only major 3rd party franchise from Nintendo this decade and it still gets no support.
