Well, the PS3/360 had Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition and Ultra Street Fighter IV, but I'm not sure how many people consider them to be new games. Though I do consider Smash Ultimate to be a new game myself.

Well, it's clear. Looking at those titles, every single one was still called Street Fighter IV, so even if there might have been considerable changes from one version to another (I wouldn't know because I don't play SF), ultimately Capcom themselves still considered it the same game. Nintendo doesn't consider Ultimate the same game, and that's really where it ends.

Well, that can also imply a specific series too, though. Like how there is Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wing and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.
