Man, E3 can't come soon enough. My Switch continues to slumber unused since January, without even any release dates for me to look forward to. Wolfenstein II is the only game I plan to get that's even confirmed for this year.

It feels like being back in the Wii U days, going months on end with nothing to play. After Switch's stellar 2017 I'd hoped those days were over but apparently not.

I guess you need to expand your horizons a bit.

My standards are not unreasonable; a game must be one I haven't already played or passed on years ago, and it must be high quality.

The E-shop has plenty of good quality tit- ... oh, you just want AA/AAA games don't you ?

Preferably games that don't look like they were made by an intern as part of their game design degree, yes.

Well if your tastes limit the range of title's that appeal to you that's going to lead to droughts of that kind anyway.

However, the comparison to Wii U rings hollow because the issue there was not the slow periods, those are inevitable.  PS4 and Xbone had them as well early on.  It was the lack of any hot periods.  Wii U never had an overly strong year, even 2014 only had small burts of high quality content.  The Switch had a very hot period and is now in a cooler one, that's going to happen sometimes.

What about Outlast 2? That's an indie game, but it looks pretty impressive.

Understandable, though it just looks like your limiting yourself ...

True, though aren't we all limited by our preferences? I mean nearly all of us have some genre or type of game we just don't like.

I don't think I'm all that restrictive; in 2017 there were 6 Switch games I deemed worth buying in less than a full year.

I did seriously consider that one, but I suspect that the lack of combat and the run-for-your-life/problem-solving-under-pressure gameplay would be too frustrating for my taste.

You should really check out Axiom Verge if you haven't. Such an amazing game.

I'm here to tell you not to. That game sucks!

What? Its on the level of Super Metroid imo. I might actually prefer it.

I do remain hopeful that E3 and subsequent directs will reveal multiple high quality new games coming in August-December. Nintendo typically has a far stronger second half of the year, and so far on Switch we have seen games like Kingdom Battle and Doom revealed just a few months out from release.
