US price then because in UK
On Nintendo store.
As you see they've always been in the 25-35 price range for a while for most of us, I've been buying Amiibos for ages now the original batch had inconsistent quality which has improved TP's Amiibo was a limited edition one that required the purchase of a game and was one of the better ones, Link's standard amiibo how ever became a meme for this inconsistency.

This is not acceptable. There hasn't been a jump in quality. Only in price. And even if there was a jump in quality, it's still a cheap tiny figurine at the price of almost a full game. It's insane. |
IDK if it’s worth arguing, but (a.) there is currently 55% tariffs on dolls and other action figures shipped out of China, and (b.) there has been a major boost in quality (size is an objective metric, and the latest figures are at least twice the size of the E.M.M.I. & Samus figures. Additionally, larger allows for greater detail). Yes, $40 is a lot for a single figurine, and yes, companies are greedy, but I don’t think Nintendo is under the illusion that they can “get away” with charging so much. In fact, I believe Nintendo is well aware that $40 is too much for the casual consumer, as explained by their decision with this newest line of figurines to cater not toward to casual crowd (via being affordable), but to the core crowd (via being luxurious).

I'm from Europe actually. I used the US prices to keep consistency. But in Europe there has been parity: 15 dollars = 15 euros for amiibos.
Also, I don't know if you are mocking me or if you just didn't realize, but the Metroid Dread amiibo pack are... Well, TWO amiibos. For 30 euros. And now we get a single amiibo for 30 euros (in the case of Samus's amiibo from Prime 4).
I've also been buying amiibos from the beginning. And while I admit that certain figurines had rough details (certain batches of the Shulk amiibo displayed a very weird face for example), in general the level of detail has remained mostly the same. Some figures are better than others. That was true then and it's still true now.
The Wolf Link amiibo could be purchased separately from TP HD. In fact, you can still buy it from mynintendostore... At 15 euros:
Again, even if you were right and quality actually improved, it certainly hasn't been an improvement that justifies doubling prices. It's abusive, it's unexcusable and it's just one more Nintendo anti-consumer move in a very long recent list.

Tariffs might be part of the reason. I admit that. But still doesn't justify doubling the prices.
Only certain amiibos are bigger than usual, like the Street Fighter ones. And those are 40 dollars. Recent amiibos like the ones from TotK have the same size and cost 30 dollars:
Again, both in the beginning and now, there are more detailed amiibos than others. And sure, at first there were some quality inconsistences among certain batches. But those became increasingly rarer as years passed. And they still remained at 15 dollars.

I've collected them since the beginning as well the amount of Amiibos in a pack has never fully determined price for example SF6 Amiibos are the £25 each plus Magnamalo and SS Zelda were this price so this pricing range has been around for a while now regardless of single or group packs it's not something that happened over night from out of nowhere. Wolf Amiibo can't be purchase in UK MYNS.

The Street Fighter amiibo cost a little more due to licensing costs, hence are an outlier as being the only “normal” Amiibo sitting at $40. Looking at the overall range of prices excluding a few outliers: (i) “Normal-sized” Amiibo cost $20-30. (ii) Bigger, higher-quality Amiibo cost $40. (iii) Swappable, bigger, higher-quality Amiibo sit at $50. In addition the increase in manufacturing costs that naturally come with inflation, it is reasonable that the “normal” figures would go from $15 up to $20-30. And with the normal sitting at $20-30, it seems reasonable that those looking for the “premium” figures will fork out the $40. For $50? That’s a stretch for me personally, though if people are interested (a very niche market of consumers, I should add), then go crazy.
Again, Nintendo is—just as all businesses are—very greedy, but I kinda understand where they are coming from (i.e. I don’t think it’s as heinous as you make it out as being). Plus, these are figurines. You don’t need to purchase them to play any of Nintendo’s games. These are solely for collectors and highly invested consumers. If Nintendo wants to charge premium, then that’s the price for Nintendo‘s mini gaming statue.
Switch 2 has new releases each month all the way through to March.
I guess I'll get my Amiibos from GameStop due to the membership I have from them when I got my Switch 2 and traded in my Xbox series S.
The $5 credit I get every month added to my account, cant use it for games cause it doesnt apply to digital or eshop cards.
So I had $25 credit and I noticed the Riju amiibo dropped to $20.
Went and got it, asked the employee that if it has a sale, and he said no - when he scanned it - "I guess you were right".
Applied the credit and got the amiibo without paying anything.
