Another important reason for me is Playstation traditionally goes very well with PC...the perfect combination. XBox has always been kind of redundant if one has a PC, now more than ever!

Actually Nintendo goes much better with PC because Nintendo doesn't have 3rd party support but has huge number of great exclusive games, whil now PS4 and PC are sharing more mulitplatfrom games than ever before, also most games from OP list are available on PC also.

Nintendo is unneccessary, Playstation has more and better exclsuives AND 3rd party support.

Yes, PS4 is better choice if we talk about exclusive games than XB1 in any case, but its not better if compared it with Nintendo, Nintendo has more games and usually better games. Just look Wii U that was failure and has short life, how much Nintendo games released and huge majority of those games are good/great game, or just look first 10 monts of Nintendo Switch games.

Nintendo does not put out more exclusives, but yes they put out great games. I can definitely agree with that. Nintendo and Sony excel in artistically expressing the spirit of gaming in multiple genres in their own respective styles. Sony is not like the old Sony in the PS1 or PS2 Era. The PS3 era forced Sony to become more creative with their exclusives since Microsoft was mirroring their third party selection so no one could tell the difference between the brands. Today, many people can name just as many of Sonys trusted studios as they can Nintendo (if not more). What Nintendo has on Sony is the party IPs. If its single player games Sony can play ball, but they are lost in the party games compared. Perhaps they dont need to replicate those games and just be Sony, just like Nintendo doesnt do certain games that Sony excels and invests in.

With that said...I am loving my switch as a companion console to my PS4 and Xbox One. Its really more of a companion to my PS4...since I play it more actively though. My Xbox is just a games with gold box right now. Nintendos first year definitely will eclipse Sony and Microsofts first year exclusives imho.

I am pretty sure they do, just look how games Sony released on PS4 and how many Nintendo on dead Wii U, or on PS3 and Wii. Fact is that Sony never had anything similar that is so strong or big like Pokemon, it has Gran Turismo and now U4 has great sales, and TloU had good, but Pokemon is much stronger than any of those IPs plus has huge strong IPs like Animal Crossing, 2D Mario, 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Zelda and now Splatoon seems it will be very strong, also plenty of ther IPs that are not so strong (Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi, Mario Sports, Metroid, Pikmin, Xeonblade, DK, Yoshi, Kirby, Fire Emblem, Star Fox, Wario...).Dont get me wrong I think that Sony has good, strong and variety IPs, but when comes to great exclusive games, Nintendo is king. Offcourse huge plus for Sony is also very strong 3rd party support historically and espacily on PS4, thats why you have plenty of people that will buy Sony console even if they don't care about Sony exclusives (GTAV, CoD, Fifa, Battlefield...), but that isnt case with Nintendo, with Nintendo console you know that 9 of 10 people will buy Nintendo console just beacuse of Nintendo games.

Saying that, I have Wii U, and I have PS4 that I bouth in order to play TLoU, Uncharted Trilogy, Bloodborne and some other future Sony games, but also to play 3rd party games like Dark Souls, Resident Evil, Witcher 3..., while I will buy Switch just to play Nintendo games on 1st place.

I´d mention how successful the PSVita was...... but someone already did

It's unnecessary if you want to play great Nintendo games, but buy your point Playstation also inst unnecessary if you have PCPlaystation has much better 3rd party support, but hardly has more, stronger or better exclusives (IPs) than Nintendo.

Does that not depend on the person? I see many more exclusives that I consider strong and good on PlayStation than on Nintendo...

Not really, if we look at number of released games or active IPs, critical exception and sales of those games, than you have pretty clear picture. Of Course anywhone can say what games are better for him, but that doesnt change what I wrote. They succeed because they create good hardware, they partner well with other developers, they have excellent marketing, and put a lot of effort in. They allow their first party's a good deal of freedom to make games that likely aren't going to sell several million.

The only PlayStation not to succeed, the Vita, seemed to lack any effort on Sony's part at all. They dropped support like a brick. Killzone Mercenary was the last big game they supported it with, and that was just 1.5 years into the systems life.

Let's not go there. If Nintendo is unnecessary, why does their games keep selling so well and garnering positive to critical reception? Why did so many people run to play BoTW at E3? Why is Nintendo having a great market cap since the Wii/DS era? Why are their handhelds able to dominate even Sony's handhelds despite being less powerful than theirs? Why are we getting excited to see their plans for their theme parks? Why does the media and gamers still talk about Nintendo if they're unnecessary?

The best thing I see for Sony this gen is that their 1st/2nd party games are really selling very well. This is a very good sign for me for sure.

This is definitely true, their best selling game on PS3 (GT5) has already been surpassed by Uncharted 4.

Their second best seller on PS3 (Uncharted 3) sold 6.74m and Horizon Zero Dawn will probably pass that, God of War on ps4 will be the best selling entry in that franchise also. PlayStation are getting some really big sellers this generation and building some really strong first party franchises.

This year if you look at reviews.
Persona and Horizon are great but haven't really been nearly praised as much as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Which is weird to me. I tried BOTW and I just didn't see the hype. Horizon on the other hand the story telling alone blows aways anything BOTW is trying to do. So many great and memorable characters.

Either way the most fascinating thing here is that Nintendo hasn't had a GOTY since Resident Evil 4. That's crazy.
