Forums - Gaming - Ubisoft should be lauded for all the new IPs

Most active 3rd party this gen, new AAA IPs:

-The Division

-Watch Dogs

-For Honor

-The Crew

-Steep

-Skulls n Bones

-Starlink: Battle for Atlas

-Zombi

And continue putting out big games with known names:

-AssCreed

-Far Cry

-Rainbow Six Siege

-Ghost Recon

-South Park

Then they do passion projects like Mario+Rabbids and Beyond Good and Evil 2. The only thing missing now is Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell, both I'm sure will sooner or later surface again, as will a new Rayman if they get to stay independent.

Seriously not appreciated for how many diverse games they released this gen. They're much better than the other two, EA is basically sports and shooties, Activision is CoD and Destiny. Both of these companies ran their properties into the ground like Mass Effect, Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero, not so Ubisoft. They're comfortable delaying and skipping a year to make quality games.

So yeah, Ubisoft ftw!

Yeah, ubisoft deserve your respect.
I particularly love Just Dance, child of light, Rayman legends

They announce new IP's yearly but they often end up playing a lot like many games out there. They also under deliver. Often downgraded and such boring gameplay no one plays after a couple months.

but they are kind of done with a formula; a lot of the new IPs are not particularly risky. I appreciate that they're lightly trying new IPs rather than not trying them at all, but none in that list are particularly groundbreaking or dangerous.

Ubisoft just doesn't really reach that far or take risks and that's my issue with them.

this; a new IP is not that helpful if it doesn't bring anything particularly new or break boundaries a LITTLE bit. Ubisoft plays it safe. The last like 5 installments of Assassin's Creed are a representation of that (same type of map, same activities, blagh)

Ubisoft are class. I didn't even play a ubisoft game until the ps3 gen but on ps4 i've played assassins creeds, watch dogs siege , far crys and a few others i can't think of right now. it's crazy how many of their games ia actually play. keep it up ubi!

Indeed. Now if only they didn't fuck most of them up with a bunch of Ubiisms...

Don't forget they also made Eagle flight, Werewolves within, Bridge Crew, Trackmania Turbo + VR tracks, and announced Transference and Space Junkies for VR.

Child of Light is still the best game they've released this gen IMO. Grow Home was fun too, but nowhere near as polished.

This.

Eagle Flight is a great open world VR title, and Trackamania VR a incredible thrill ride. Haven't tried the others, but major props for the efffort and support for the future of gaming.

As far as traditional titles go, I have really enjoyed The Crew and Watch Dogs. Not as big on Watch Dogs 2, but The Crew 2 look really good. I also am very interested in Far Cry 5, looks very Sony like, and I really like that.

Ubisoft is a great publisher. Thy have had their stumbles, but that is going to happen. The continued commitment to solid IP, the constant delivery of new IP, and the huge support of future platforms all add up to a company that deserves the respect of any gamer.
