I love it. I am so glad they don't shove any political ideas down our throats as consumers, like so many other companies such as Bioware do. Let games be games.

Speaking of EA, it's disgusting how they used gay people as a shield to protect them from legit criticism in the past.

Yea that is stupid. In general, I find relationships in games typically not well done. Arenanet, who makes Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2, for example, made the story focus a TON on a gay couple. Am I against homosexuality? yes. Do others have to agree with me? No. But they made the story practically about them and most people don't play guildwars for any kind of couple relationship scenes, they want epic things involving huge battles and dragons and stuff. I just feel like developers are increasingly focusing on stating their political views in such strong ways that it takes away from them focusing on the things that people actually want out of games, making the games and the stories a lot worse.

And then there are the politics around game development itself, such as what qualifies as "current gen" or "next gen," what qualifies as "handheld" or "console," what qualifies as "casual" or "hardcore"... they don't care about any of that stuff. They just want to make fun and interesting games on fun and interesting hardware.

Not allowing gay marriage in tomodachi life, they are doing politics

Never understood the gen stuff. Does it really matter?

I remember one thread where people were debating on whether the Switch is a handheld or console. For god's sake, it's a hybrid. Even if I was wrong and it's only a handheld/console, what do we gain from being right?

Never played tomodachi life- was this a big issue?

No, they want people to give them money, that's all.

Nintendo, a business, trying to take our money? madness!

This is a pity and a lie.

A pity because Nintendo have some of the best minds in the industry and would definetely be able to use gaming at its best to approach serious themes.

And a Lie, because totally avoiding political stance is pretty much impossible.

Not every game should be about it, but if we want game to grow as a medium and to be taken more seriously, it is important to have a diverse content and not avoid any subject.

Just the tip of the iceberg

I know, right? And some people believe this kind of pr crap, lol.

Let's overcharge another device to put smiles on people faces :D

The point BraLoD is, all of them want our money.
The question would be why only Nintendo is taking this stance. If it is better for business, then why many other are eager to add potical discussion to their games?

$299 isn't the most pleasant price, but it's fine honestly. Don't forget that it will be getting bundles, revisions, and price cuts as time goes on. The 3DS was 250, but I waited and got it for 180. I'm sure you can wait if you find it overpriced. Did it for the Xbox One too.

What I fail to understand is the $99 dock. Even Samsung's S8 dock is crazy expensive (150 dollars) http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/mobile-accessories/phones/dex-station---black-ee-mg950tbegus/

Is the technology stolen from the 22nd century or something?

I would say that Splatoon, Pikmin, and Xenoblade X for a start all make statements which could be considered political. I think Reggie is just full of crap. Clearly the creative teams working on Nintendo's games have the leeway to make whatever statements they want.

Xenoblade is loaded with religious stuff. Somebody ask Reggie about that.

I mean, should be a given. Nintendo's a video game company after all, not a political party

However, I don't think that things like having radical religious people in Far Cry 5 is really making a political statement though, It likely just stems from creative freedoms and having a different and interesting narrative as a result. It's not like they're going out and saying "ALL CHRISTIANS ARE CRAZY!!!" or anything, it's just the media trying to make something out of nothing.
