Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's Online App (personal thoughts of the issue)

Well first off, let me start by saying that I think the whole idea of the app is stupid and ridiculous (at least on the home console side). I can see a reason to have it when you're on the go, as having an app on your smartphone to take off some of the pressure of the console while not docked, that makes sense to me.

Now I hope this app fails and it makes them realize what a terrible idea it was, I can see them either releasing an update that would allow us to make lobbies and voice chat through the system (if it's possible). If it's not possible, I think they will add those features into the inevitable console revision that every Nintendo handheld goes through. They need to step up their game in this department.

I wouldn't hold my breath. I think that they're going to stick with their current plans, because even if it's heavily critiqued, I can't see it being a serious threat to console sales or online subscriptions. So, unless there's somehow a successful boycott for online or the console, I just don't see it happening.

I never used it anyway. Everytime I use voice chat I always met toxic people

A handheld gamer only (for now).

I basically agree that it is a bad idea. I don't want it to fail though. I'd rather them do a great job with it, so that we have a good way to play online with Switch.

So you want console features into something that you're not even considering as a console ... quite fascinating

Where'd I say that at? I think it's a hybrid, both home and handheld console (btw I call handhelds consoles, cause that's what they are). Since they are taking pages from both their businesses, I think there will be a console revision in the future.

The answear is to simply just not use voice chat on the nintendo systems. Done.

I think they will fail with this and then sign a deal with Microsoft so Switch-users can play on their servers, but you'll have to check in on a Live-account just like cross-play.

An app is good way to allow Switch, XB and PC players to chat and tell Sony jokes together while playing Minecraft and Rocket League and all the other games that will have cross play.

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

You'll be doing that on Xbox Live, not Nintendo's App.

I'll make up my mind once the app is released. I think it has potential to be a cool feature.
