Sounds nice but what I'm gathering from this is that we're going to have to wait until almost next gen for console defining exclusive from Microsoft. New ips take a while to makez

It's 2017. They do take a while to make. Bloodborne took about 3 years, Destiny took 4 years, Watch Dogs took 4-5 years, and Horizon took a bit longer than that. If they open up a studio today, we likely won't see their new game until 2021 at the earliest. Patience is a virtue. If you want quality, you won't get it overnight.

They do, but Microsoft do not have time. Theyve made bad decision after bad decsion and it hurt even more to non-traditionally be the worst company at first party for three gens in a row.

Your basing that off your own taste. Genre defining well lets see. Sea of Thieves could be one of those. So can Crackdown 3. In the past they had Ori and the Blind Forest back in 2015 and lets not forget Titanfall 1 as a Console Exclusive.

And you know what Xbox is doing better than Sony this year? Variety. Your not getting the same old genres coming out like your typical RPGs and cinematic games. This year there offering a Pirate themed MMO, an all destructive Openworld game, an RTS title, an old fashion Mickey Mouse 1940s platformer and one of the best Metroid/Vania games ever made.

Sounds more like none of those games interest you rather than MS not making genre defining games. I can say the exact same thing with the Sony event. Nothing i having seen or experienced before.

I feel the same way.

I thought Ashen looked better than anything I saw at Playstations conference.

I do not care if its genre defining.

Most people just want to play games.

No ones knocking what smaller games and moderately popular games they have coming, but Microsoft needs more IP's that draw people to the console outside of Halo and Gears. Every generation the first party needs to be worked on in such a fashion to create identity for the platform. There is no identity or message Microsoft is sending and because of these lack of standards that some of their fans are having, the more lost the message becomes.  Microsoft is failing for three generations in the most important part of being a console developer. That is first party. Even if you dont accept it...phil spencer seems to have it weighing on his mind.

Yes they do, but nothing that is going to generate buzz. I mean even Phil couldn't completely answer the question because it's going to take time to make new ips that are genre defining. I mean he admitted to investing in an game like uncharted but the venture failed so they paid for timed exclusivity of rise of the tomb raider. Microsoft hasn't had one console defining ip all gen. It seems the only two platforms to gain two strong new ips are Nintendo and Sony with horizon and arms. Splatoon, gears, uncharted, last of us were the big gen defining ips last gen. Back then gears wasn't first pArty either so that says nothing for Microsofts capacity to create games on that level from scratch.

My thoughts exactly.

Thanks.

I dont know dude. Sony fans seem more worried about how MS is doing then MS or their own Fans.

THats a problem. Sony fans have higher stanards because Sony gives them more from all parties. The same goes for Nintendo, san the third party. They will get some great exclusives from third party though.

Partly because we know how Sony can get when there is no competition.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Does everyone just forget about Nintendo? xD .

Does this surprise you? xD

Also Nintendo market is very different, I can imagine a lot of new switch owners (Those who buy switch that didn't buy Wii U) will already or plan to also have an Xbox or Playstation.

And sadly, they arent getting much competition on the first party front. Third party give them more competition in the genres they are focued on.

Higher... Standards.... CoughTheOrderCough, sorry about that xD .

That was a decision that cost  Ready at Dawn a lasting relationship with Sony. They had been working for Sony for years and finally got their shot at a key first party title. If they would have succeeded Sony wouldve made them full first party (Yes..there are companies that would love to be apart of SCE) .Had that Onder more funcational third person than  it already was (with more open spaces)) no one would say a word because the story was actually quite good.

Another thing I totally agree with.

My thoughts exactly! Sony needs competition, but where is it? Nintendo is doing (really) good, but MS is still all talk.
