I think Nightii on gaf said it best, while people bitch and complain on various forums about Capcoms' intentions, a new generation of people will get to play what looks like a decent Monster Hunter, those will be the real winners.

Yeah but then it's only in Japanese right? No English or English subtitles? Or am I wrong? |

Likely only Japanese but I could be wrong on this since I don't play those games. From what I seen and heard they don't seem to be story or text heavy. They are much more invested in the gameplay. The stats and stuff I think has colors and symbols. Though this is something you should probably ask a vet of the series as I could be misinformed on this. If it does happen to be the case that you can deal without the text and fully enjoy the game, and it doesn't come to the west. This is pretty much you only option to play the game on the Switch unfortunately.

Well I'm fortunate in that I purchased MH before and hated it (3 on the Wii U and the demo for 4 on 3ds), so it isn't a problem for me lol.

Yeap theyll have fun with mhw for ps4 and switch owners will have fun with mh5. Also this game came out in the west already for 3ds.

I played the Wii U demo and that game wasn't for me. I was done with it within the hour. I found it boring and repetitive (the combat was so bad) and while I love my good graphics, I'm not an extreme graphic whore.... but good god. Until Monster Hunter World was revealed those games always looked a gen or two behind when they come out. The Wii U Monster Hunter looked like it could run on the Game Cube and original Xbox. I have it in my mind of a certain level of quality that I expect from Capcom over most developers/publishers. You can probably guess I'm not super impressed with Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite right now either.

Well they fucked over Playstation fans with the Switch from psp to 3DS so they're pretty good at it, it seems.

When did they announce MH5? And exclusive to switch aswell?

Just coming out of the shadows to repeatedly gloat about something you probably won't play, huh?
OT: I'm really curious to see what Capcom does. Regardless, there's no way that'll be the last we see of MH for Nintendo.

No announcement yet. Of course its not confirmed at all, but it really is looking that way. Mhw targeting the western fans while theyll keep mh5 on switch (for japan) but it could be for both systems as well.
I mean why not call mhw mh5? It literally isnt a spun off (sort of)

"EMEA Community Manager for monsterhunter @ Capcom_UK"
Yeah, there aren't incentives here for this guy to promote the game, are there? A year from now we'll be talking about how stagnant and/or great MH5 looks on 3DS and/or Switch. Monster Hunter is Capcom's lifeline. It kept them alive for almost a decade, they'd be idiots to risk that.

The jump to the 3ds was necessary because by that point monster hunter had cemented itself as a portable series and the Vita wasn't doing well. Monster hunter did great on the 3ds and it was the first time the series was ever truly relevant in the west then the pissed it all away
