Yeah, it did little for me. However, I'm sure that there were Xbox fans pleased by it, and I guess that's what matters.

Yes it did little, cause they didn't announce any 1st Party...
2017 is barren for Xbox, and who knows what's coming in 2018 after Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2.
They did something for gaming, by showing tons of multi-plats and games that would eventually come to other systems, but they didn't do much for xbox.
I would buy an Xbox X if only they had some exclusives I was interested in. Would love to have a working UHD player (thanks Samsung for sucking) and even better looking games than PS4 Pro.
I am Iron Man
I thought they had a better show than people here are willing to give them credit for, but $499.99 is just such a momentum killer, Scorpio seems like a wicked piece of kit and my goodness did that EA mech shooter look all kinds of "holy shit" in 4K, but I think $500 ... man that's a good chunk of cash. Not saying the hardware doesn't justify the ask, but it's a much tougher sell.

They had a good show for gaming, just not for Xbox. Look at exclusive game announcements by year, it's easily the worst for exclusive content.
2013: Ryse, Quantum Break, Forza 5, Dead Rising 3, Sunset Overdrive, Killer Instinct, Kinect Sports Rivals, Zoo Tycoon, Fable Legends, Crimson Dragon, Project Spark.
2014: Halo 5, Halo MCC, Forza Horizon 2, Phantom Dust, Scalebound, Crackdown 3, Ori, Killer Instinct Season 2, State of Decay Remaster.
2015: Gears of war 4, Gears Ultimate Edition, Forza 6, Rare Replay, Recore, Halo Wars 2, Sea of Thieves, Killer Instinct Season 3.
2016: State of Decay 2, Forza Horizon 3, Halo Wars Definitive, Phantom Dust HD, Dead Rising 4
2017: Forza 7, Ori 2, Super Lucky's Tale.

That seems true as we didn't see a single trailer of all those games at the presentation. In the end, the whole thing appeared somewhat barren of "cool stuff". 2D side scrollers, cartoonish stuff, and for heaven's sake: Minecraft, weren't really the right stuff to show 4k superiority. So it didn't help at all that most of the stuff they did show is easily reproducible on a PS4 Pro with the same perceived quality. It will be interesting to see what Sony does today. If they fall into the "show all the cool 3rd party stuff" trap then XBox fans can simply add "...and it will look better on the X" (and probably be right in some cases). |
It has nothing to do with being outmaneuvered This is a tortoise and the hare situation. Microsoft comes out with third party developing their ip or just exclusives and relies heavily on that to prove they are invested in first party. Sony like Nintendo invests in overall quality and their own idea of what gaming should be. Microsoft can play the reliant on third party and best place to play multiplat glass line. This is what happened last gen when they ran out of exclusives by mid gen and sonys first party started to unload on Microsoft and even the media started to notice. This is a generational example of internal mediocrity by Microsoft. They just don't have the standard that Sony has and that how Sony caught up to them last gen and that's also why Sony can have a commanding lead against them when they are beating them. Not only that but their portfolio is one of considerable dominance in first, second and third party. If we're talking long term unless Microsoft fixes their first party Sony will ALWAYS have their number
my problem is Xbox shares all if its title (practically) with Windows 10..... not to mention they don't have ONE exclusive as exciting as the God of War reenvisioning or LoU2

The stark contrast is telling, isn't it. At this point, who would be surprised/disappointed?

I like Terry though.
Hunting Season is done...
That might be the case but Forza Motorsports 7 is going to be great 700+ cars dynamic weather. Plus they brought back Mugello Circuit, Suzuka Circuit and Maple Valley. Plus Porsche's from the start for the first time since FM3.

Lol, how can you not like Terry Crews? Though, I have to say, they misused him. They had him play it straight and angry, instead of what he's great at. Funny angry.
