I bet you anything we'll get a thorough Digital Foundry comparison as soon as possible.

Yep, and I look forward to it very much. Just from an academic point of view it will be interesting to see where it falls between the two given that Switch is stronger than PS3/360, but weaker than PS4/Xbone.

I'm not DF, but from what I can see, it has the new lighting of the PS4 and Xbone as well as a much higher grass density than PS360, but not sure if it is *as* high as PS4 and Xbone.  The godrays appear to be absent or reduced.  Textures seem more crisp than PS360 for sure, but it's hard to see in this trailer how they stack up to the PS4 and Xbone.  My guess is that will be somewhat in the middle.  Depth of Field effects are hard to judge, I think I saw them but not sure.  Definitely more Anisotropic Filtering and AA going on here than on PS360 and LOD details are definitely closer to Special Edition than PS360 it would seem.  It also seems to be running at 60fps...I think?

A lot of these adjustments are pretty easy for them to make.  Most can be toned down and turned off in the standard PC version of Special Edition so it's not very hard to imagine they started with that version.  Plus the version of the engine Special Edition uses is more stable and more efficient so it would be the best option.

Looks better than the PS3 version I played, so they did put actual effort into it. It is portable and has motion controls and all the DLC I never played. Hm. I might actually end up buying this.

Are you guys excited about motion controls in the game? I mean, I'm not a huge Skyrim fan, but motion controls are soooo important to me. Because the game will feel way more immersive and satisfying if they're implemented right. It's really a big deal to me, and the only way I could possibly give it another chance.

If they are immersive and not like, say, Twilight Princess where they were mostly a button replacement, then that would be cool but I'm not holding my breath.  Don't get me wrong, I would love it if they were really good cause I always thought that was the kind of game the Wii should have had and the closes we got Skyward Sword.    But I just doubt Bethesda has the experience to do it.

Right, I'd like a similar approach to Skyward Sword, but more refined. At least, refined enough so I can use the sword with my left Joy-con and the shield with the right one. It'd be also cool that the sword will move with your hand, but that's a thing that I don't see them doing, sadly. I'll wait to see some Switch gameplay to see its potential.

Going by that trailer and owning SSE on PC that is definitely upgraded over the original version, it's probably SSE on a lower setting than the PS4 version.

Third party companies continuing to think that to get Nintendo console owners to buy your game, you have to shoehorn "Nintendo content" into it somehow, gets a bit annoying. Don't get me wrong, a 6 year old game SHOULD get some new exclusive content upon be re-re-re-released. But it isn't as if a decent amount of people weren't going to buy Skyrim purely so they could play it on the go, in the first place.

Stuffing in Zelda shit just so "Zelda fans" might buy it, is pointless.

Trailer looks great although terrible music. It's bound to be based on the latest game engine assets as they are the most efficient but what level of frame rate, graphics detail, resolution etc. It was originally going to be Autumn I thought but now closer to Christmas. What we have seen is probably straight graphics from the dev kit which I believe has the cpu's at 2ghz but the retail Switch is at 1ghz so we can't really assume anything until we see final retail code. The difference between 2ghz and 1ghz on Arm A57's is the difference between being more powerful than 360 and being below it.

I'm interested to see how the Switch version copes under maximum load but also how much cpu generated detail is in the game world, number of characters moving about, cloud effects on mountains etc. Ultimately what sort of average frame rate.

This will definitely be a good test of real world Switch performance as so many versions of Skyrim to compare and allthough old a very ambitious game of its day.

If Bethesda pulls it off and get's high sales I'd love to see Fallout 3 come to the Switch.

What I'd like to see even if it struggles in other areas is much reduced or eliminated loading times. The Switch has 4GB of memory compared to only 1/2GB with ps3 and 360 and if they have to scale back the game anyway to get a good frame rate then that 8x memory should be used to load more of the game into memory eliminating load times. It would be great to walk into a shop instantly without waiting for loading. It's more immersive when it's seamless like that. I think ultimately it will be a game of highs and lows compared to other versions especially the portable version. It wouldn't surprise me if the native resolution in portable mode drops below 720p to keep the frame rate up or it uses dynamic scaling in dragon battles for example.

What I'd like to see is a slow switching mode so when you go between portable and docked mode the game will actually reload higher quality assets for docked mode. I personally wouldn't care if its a 30 second delay switching if you then have a higher quality image on the main tv.

I love Skyrim an absolutely brilliant game and it will surely be a great addition to the Switch game library. I'd much rather the Switch had games of this quality than most of the indie games it is getting which I get thrown at me on playstation plus and hardly ever play. I hope it does well because lets face it if it doesn't it will probably mean a much lower level of support from major developers. The Switch has taken the crown for the most powerful handheld console of the Vita but at least with regards third party support very few games show that. Most third party support is pretty uninspired old titles or games which require a low performance level.

It's definitely not the vanilla version. Everyone who played both knows the difference just by looking at the lighting effects.
I wish the would go full motion controls with this game. I mean, you already have 2 controllers for motion control and could use the sword and shield freely like in the sense of Skyword Sword.

I really want to see how the motion controlls work. I'm not sure how the melee motion controlls would be, but if I can aim with my bow the same with the Pro Controller's motion tech, I'm all for it.

You know it deserves the GOTY.
