Forums - Gaming - Microsoft Lack of Exclusives

It's funny how Microsoft takes shots on Sony for advertising checker board 4k as dynamic.

Specially when they call their XBox preview games Exclusives. Yes we heard this word 22 times in their conference. But how true is that?

For those unaware, Microsoft allow developers to sell their games earlier in their platforms before the game is actually finished (for full price most of the time) once gone gold, the game is then published on other platforms, including Switch and PS4 for example.

Microsoft promised 22 exclusives and 1 brand new IP

Instead this is what we got:

Forza 7 (New announcement)

Stay of Decay 2 (Already announced)

Cup Head (Already announced)

Crackdown 3 (Already announced)

Sea of Thieves (Already announced)

Ori 2 (New Announcement)

6 exclusives. Only 2 of them are new and the rest were announced 2-3 years ago.

Everything else is either multiplat or will be released in other consoles after launch.

A full E3 conference and Only 2 announcements?

Where is the new first party IP Phil Spencer promised?

Did I miss something?

The only thing that got me somewhat excited was for multiplats like Anthem and DBZ.

good question, very strange. And the fact that all Xbox-games on PC will appear in the future, many players do not find good.

So true, love the gif lol

Totally Savage :D

The more I think about the conference the more I think it was a good attempt at a slight of hand. In true PR sense, keep mentioning the words to get people to pick it up... doesnt normally work.

TRUE... true 4k was mentioned lots, exclusives... but if you break it down, it shows the lack of AAA exclusives MS have.

Also in the Sea of Thieves trailer did they mention it was coming in 2018, because in the youtube show, said it was coming Jan or Feb 2018.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

All Sony's gotta do is say Bloodbourne 2 and the day is theirs. Really, it could have gone worse for MS, but it went about as crummy as expected.

As expected Sony is going to annihilate them tomorrow just by showing up.

Detroit,

Spiderman,

God of war,

gran turismo sport

and many more.

Basically this entire gen in a nutshell. Sony have been excellent but they could have been pretty average and they'd still walk this gen.

Well the writing has been on the wall for quite a while now.

We had countless arguments on this site years ago, mid way through the 7th gen. How were MS going to fare after they couldn't secure third party deals? How would they fare using the same franchises over and over?

At the moment we are witnessing what appears to be the result of their complete and utter lack of foresight. Their biggest reliable franchises are either experiencing franchise fatigue, have swapped developers, are limited in sales, or have been shut down, without any meaningful replacements. To top it all off, they no longer even have the significant third party deals.

The 22 games don't include game preview games. Personally they showed enough console exclusives that launch before their next E3.
