I fully agree. It seems to me that MS is trying to pivot their Xbox brand into windows PCs.

Which in itself is a tough task because of Steam. Microsoft's gaming business is in a tough spot at the moment.

On the console side Xbox is getting beat badly by Playstation and on the PC side, Steam is heavily preferred over Windows.

That's the problem with head on competition, if you aren't the preferred choice than your product/service risks being seen as redundant because there is a superior option.

It's really the exact opposite of Nintendo. Nintendo's success/failure comes down to whether or not they are able to differentiate themselves by offering things that the others don't.

Basically at this point Xbox/Windows regaining marketshare/mindshare depends largely on PS/Steam shooting themselves in the foot and being able to steal some of their audience while Nintendo can succeed regardless of what the others are doing.

But... MS makes such great first party games that aren't on Steam that millions of people will flock from Steam to the Windows store, and bring their dollars with them. People love walled gardens, right?

I doubt Nintendo wants anything to do with "Xbox", it would be strictly about certain property and services..

Lets imagine what this type of deal would be like, assuming MS wanted to shift their gaming business and approach Nintendo. The biggest question, is not about OS, services or achievements, but does Nintendo have interest in diversifying its catalog (with games like Halo & Gears)? That would be the incentive for partnering with MS (not just exiting the business and letting Nintendo presumptively benefit from the void). Even though it would be advantageous for Nintendo & modernize w/ "live", achievements , better OS, etc I feel Nintendo doesn't really care much for that, and would only come as a byproduct of an agreement that nets Nintendo popular online titles (remember Ninty's charging for online soon).

Now its clear Nintendo has its eyes on that online service $$$. After many hours of Kart 8 deluxe, I can safely say its the same ole crappy online that Nintendo will soon start charging for. To gain or come close to the ultimate desired subscribers (1:1) as possible, you obviously need popular online games to justify that service charge and IMO is what Nintendo would be vying for the most under this premise.

In the end, certain MS games would become Nintendo/PC (cross-plat online) and Nintendo would make some unique, exclusive content for windows store, and run a form of Windows OS & live on their consoles. We'd see the online price hike to the standard at this point where MS rakes in a 60/40 or better deal. That's how I'd imagine it went if MS were to shift their gaming business and dealt with the big N.

You can build a buffy specs console easily, if not very easily

But a hybrid machine like Switch, I doubt M$ could even imagine about it, and design a console like it

So like I said... Microsoft kicks Nintendo's ass as far as I'm concerned,

Kick ass with a 500$ console without properly exclusive games and multi games included PC ?

I'm OK with that

People forget thatNintendo used to do just that.

Microsoft is only out of the race when they decide they are; they're perfectly capable of turning the tide over time, and their market share is already fairly strong as far as most markets go (not everything can be the near monopoly that Windows OS is).

Otherwise, I've always loved how uniquely "Nintendo" Nintendo actually is; both the company and its games have always stood apart from other companies (for good or bad), and their quirky and risk-taking approach is what makes them worth keeping around. I'd hate to see that get diluted or mainstreamed by a partnership with Microsoft.

What tides has MS turned any time lately? They're never gonna beat Sony.

Really? I think that any potential ruination would be flowing in the opposite direction. Fair play to your opinion tho.

Did you see how Nintendo is handling Online play and voice chat on the switch? You have to have an external plug and plug on part into it for voice and another part to another area to hear others. Lobbies are also all done the through the mobile app. IMO xbox live is the best network out there and Nintendo has no clue on how to have proper online functions so that's why I think they could ruin it.
