Forums - Gaming - September on the 360... Not fair!

I just looked at this for the September schedule (and late August):

8/21 - Bioshock
9/3 - Mass Effect
9/11 - Eternal Sonata
9/25 - Halo
9/25 - Assassin's Creed

Five weeks of hell. No freakin' way will my wife let me buy that many games in a five week period.

That's a good month for people who are interested in these games...  I think it's a little FPS heavy but I guess FPS are still popular?  Eternal Sonata has a good art style, it reminds me of Saga Frontier.  It's definately a month which many 360 owners will be very happy about.  I'm also sure that these aren't the only games coming out in September, has anyone got the full list?

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

And microsoft STILL isn't profitable, with its 360. Even with software, they still can't see any black. Microsoft suuuuccccckkkkkssss...

Blah blah blah, blah blah blah.

You're starting to sound like Larry.

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

Saying "Microsoft" isn't profitable is the same thing as saying "Sony" isn't profitable. Both are lies. Sony makes money even though its gaming division lost 2 billion dollars. Microsoft makes money (a shit-ton of it) even though their entertainment division (includes 360 and Zune) lost money (not sure how much).

Kruze, the thing is, as others have stated: you won't sell alot of software for those titles if your not moving systems too. MS could either sell the 360 @ $400, make $150 a system, and sell far fewer games, or sell the 360 @ $300, make $50 a console, but move 5 times the games, recouping a bit of their costs. Don't think they could move 5x the software?

Do you really think if they only drop the price a month after Halo, they'll sell less copies of Halo and consoles in the end? I honestly don't.

Halo may not have such an impressive launch that way, but if you're going to sell out your first batch of copies anyway, what's the problem? People who are willing to pay $400 to get it yesterday, will get milked out. They'd go out and buy it on ebay for even more if they needed to. They may get pissed once the price drop is announced just weeks later, but honestly?... though luck! Others will wait, but they'll get it anyway a couple of weeks later when it's like $300 or something. In the end, it's the same, except you suckered a bunch of people into paying $100 extra, and somewhat helped retailers clean the stocks they purchased from you at the higher price (just when you want them happy enough to devote shelf space in Christmas for you).

If they wanna impress, they'll price drop for GTA - where they'll be fighting the overpriced PS3 head to head - not necessarily for Halo.

Reality has a Nintendo bias.

I'm just saying that MS *should* have been profitable by now.  To be honest, I think that the problem lies with its recent faulty 360's......which they would have had to throw in the garbage and produce another one and ship it, all for free.

To MS's credit, they seem to have largely fixed this problem.

Microsoft has some great games in its sleeve, but there's nothing too exciting. Shooter, shooter, weird RPG, shooter and shooter. This is why 360 won't win this gen. If I'll get 360, it's because of Alan Wake and Resident Evil 5.

Yule, your wrong. Bioshock - Survival/Horror Shooter Mass Effect - RPG Eternal Sonata - RPG Halo 3 - Shooter Assassains Creed - Stealth Tactics game w/ Melee weapons Certainly NOT shooter-heavy. Get your games straight.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I think you're not giving Bioshock enough credit, it's not just a shooter.

Well, it'll probably get 90+ in reviews because of superb AI and graphics, but from what I've read about it, it's just too full of cliches for me. From Wikipedia:

Enemies

-Deformed, genetically modified nurses

-Genetically modified children

-Mute, lumbering bio-mechanical monstrosities

-Security Bots

Plot

Genetic engineering

Self-modification

To adapt and advance their character, the player can spend Adam to gain upgrades called "Plasmids" to modify themselves and give themselves new and/or enhanced abilities and weapons.

Weapon modification

In the 15 minute gameplay demonstration video, Ken Levine states that weapons can be modified to shoot different kinds of bullets, to hold bigger magazines and to shoot more powerfully.

Hmm... I think I've played that game like 100 times already.
