That means $600 here, and that is one sale less for MS. They really were hinting at $399, but if this is true, well it is a massive mistake on the part of the Xbox team...

Sorry to bring you the bad news, but with the current exchange rate $499.99=C$673.26 so you're probably looking at C$649.99 or C$699.99 in Canada.

I can guarentee that won't be the case. Conoles are never that high here in Canada. We're talking $599, but not in the 600s range. Even so, very disappointing.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

12GB GDDR5, large APU and exotic cooling. Realistic expectations people...

DOA everywhere but the US and UK at that price tbh.

Yes, and a last gen CPU that is terrible. There is no reason for this to be $500, unless they only care about profiting on the HW...

Time to cash in my bets.

Well, I thought the PS4 would be doing much better and that the audience for a high end console would be bigger.

But after the dismal 1/5 sales Sony has given I think Microsoft might be in a little trouble.

It was bound to be somewhere between $400-$500.

499 is not between 400 - 500, its 500.

That was in reference to the speculation pricing that people were issusing... Some people were estimating $299 while others were estimating $599. Most people said that it would be in between $400-$500 and not any higher or lower and they were correct... It ended up being $500 and not any higher or lower...

Is this higher or lower than expected?

Expected. Any higher and few people will buy it. Any lower and Microsoft would be taking a pretty good loss on the product and Microsoft doesnt like to take losses.

It's about what some of us were thinking, but higher than what we were hoping.

Also, we now have Geoff saying $500 and Pachter saying $400. Who will be right?

Pachter also predicted a $249 PS4Pro, which would be a $150 cut. Don't take his predictions seriously in the slightest.

Oh, I never said that I believed him. I'm not that crazy.

That said, I hope the new Metroid he talked about turns out to be true .

Please excuse my bad English.

Unfortunently for them, that means less SW sales in the long run, which is where the money comes from. This E3 is looking to be a disappointment more and more everyday, but I am holding out till the conference actually announces a price and games.

If so then it's fucked. Sony can push the PS4Pro to $350 to kill all of Scorpio's buz.

IDK, both seem like niche purchases. If you're going to pay extra for a 4k machine, I don't put it past many tech enthusiasts going for the actual 4k machine. Regardless, with that price Microsoft knows they're pricing themselves out of mainstream competition but I'm not sure Pro is even competing there, do we know how much it sells weekly?

$399 - Xbox 360 20GB HD - back in 2005 is $499 today in the USA.

The "core" 360 was 299, which today is $375.

I wouldn't say that. MS took big losses on the OG Xbox to get a foothold in the market. If Microsoft knows what's good for them right now, it will be $399 with some sort of "premium bundle" that goes for more. With the PS4 Pro likely getting a price drop soon, Scorpio won't do well at $499.
