Forums - Gaming - Geoff Keighley: Scorpio to cost $499

Still getting day1 if true?

yes. 51 13.39%

no. 302 79.27%

maybe. 28 7.35%

Total:381

History repeating itself.

In 2013 Xbox One debuted at $499 losing to $399 PS4 which has sold twice as many systems since.

Microsoft is doomed. Scorpio will NOT sell at $499 especially when PS4 Pro drops to at least $350 and regular PS4 and Xbox One S are $200 this holiday.

Microsoft's only chance back in 2013 was a $399 Xbox One with Kinect 2 sold separately.

Every video game company has had its time and blown it- Atari, Colecovision, Nintendo, Sega, Sony, now Microsoft.

What's ironic is Atari is making a comeback. I'll buy that system over $500 Scorpio.

Pray that this is false or Microsoft makes a last minute $399 price change in 4 hours.

I'm going to hold off on believing this. This could easily be the old psychological game of ramping up the supposed price in order to make the actual price sound more reasonable.

Im with you there. While I dont think it will be $400, I do think $450 is possible.

$250  ps4/x1s

$350 ps4 pro

$450 x1 corpio

this seems resonable to me.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

PS4pro launched (and still is) 399$.

Scorpio:  +UHD player + More Memory + Secret Sauce CPU + Bigger custom GPU + Custom Cooling solution +bigger PSU +bigger case + more complext MB ect ect.

It makes sense it would launch at more imo.

Time to cash in my bets.

Well, I thought the PS4 would be doing much better and that the audience for a high end console would be bigger.

But after the dismal 1/5 sales Sony has given I think Microsoft might be in a little trouble.

don't think there is anything dismal about 1/5 new sales being a Pro, but I realise you have to bash Sony in every thread (though why you pick sales when you support Xbox is weird)

Scorpio has an even lower purchase percentage at that price guranteed

Name leak: he says someone told him the name of the console is in his Twitter poll: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=240056581&postcount=2061
Xbox Scorpio, Xbox Two, Xbox 10 or Xbox One X.

I guess that is the price of #TruePower

some people questioning whether it is a ploy to have a $399 price announcement be a megaton at the show, but I don't know why Keighley would go along with that. And if that is the price now, I don't see how they could just slash $100 off when they must have agreed this price at every level

Scorpio was never going to move the needle much, despite the hopes of some. But if Sony go with a $349 Pro with Call of Duty for instance this holiday, $150 more for Scorpio will be a hard sell even in the US and UK

Xbox Scorpio, Xbox Two, Xbox 10 or Xbox One X.

the last one would be my guess

only Xbox 10 if they have even more PC crossover features

That means $600 here, and that is one sale less for MS. They really were hinting at $399, but if this is true, well it is a massive mistake on the part of the Xbox team...

More like CAD 650 to CAD 700. $499 is CAD 675 atm
PSVR got rounded up to CAD 550 while the ps4 pro got rounded down to CAD 500. The PSVR bundle at $499 is CAD 699 here.

Makes no sense for them to actually drop the price of the Xbox one S tomorrow *Today (11th), it surely devalues the Scorpio at this price. They should have bundled 3 games with it instead, to add value to both, not take it away.

Today. It was for the 11th, its already in effect.

Xbox One S for 249$.

Ah yes you are right.  I was sidetracked by it not having jumped into the Amazon charts yet.  I blame old age for losing track of dates too.

That´s not Geoff´s usual MO, something seems off here..
