Forums - Microsoft - Assassin’s Creed: Origins on Project Scorpio Runs at Consistent Frame Rate in 4K

A report from a leaked copy of Game Informer Magazine talks about the performance of the newly-revealed Assassin's Creed: Origins on Project Scorpio.

A leaked copy of Game Informer magazine delivered early to subscribers, revealed a lot of interesting details about Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Origins, but it also talks about the upcoming console by Microsoft code named “Project Scorpio.”

The report mentions that the writer had some hands-on time with the game running on Scorpio, and while on PC it ran at “fairly steady 30 FPS,” on Project Scorpio it ran at a frame rate that “felt more consistent” at 4K resolution. We also hear that both versions are still being optimized, so there is room for improvement.

Project Scorpio version seems to be getting the best performance.

Depends on the PC they were running the game on though. Given the nature of PCs, it could run at 1 FPS or 120 FPS for all we know, so no matter what PC will have the best performance. However it's logical to assume they were running it on very capable hardware, so taking that into consideration Scorpio put on a pretty good show.

The idea of a modern AC doing 4K on Scorpio is pretty sexy. Very curious to see what this box can do.

A shitty Ubisoft PC port? What a shock. They've only been doing that for the past 15 years or so, right?

In other news, it's still in development and this is not useful information. The game is probably developed with with a consoles-first approach, so it's only natural the Scorpio version runs better at this point. Let's talk again when the game is released and all optimizations have been done.

Tbf the Scorpio version hasn't been optimized yet. The game was ported over in a week.

It should still benefit a good bit from the optimizations done for the regular Xbox One version. I imagine Scorpio is to Xbox One like a more powerful PC is to a somewhat weaker PC, so many of the same optimizations should apply to both.

The title is obvious bait by OP. No one said it's running better than the PC version.

how does ubisoft stuff generally run on PC?

Mixed bah, far cry primal was badly optimized and pretty much uses 2-3 cores on the cpu only and the division is a title that requires a pretty good pc.

Anyway if you throw enough power to it, 1060/580 and up it will always run better then any console but the scorpio is somewhere between the 1060 and 1070 in power so if the pc version of AC is badly optimized there might be some truth to the posting.

Generally AC has a pretty bad run on pc with unity being worse then the ps4 version on launch for many and syndicate running ok on high end hardware but 4k was almost impossible.
